I posted this in reply to M about having hard time falling asleep.

This is a simple technique I use to fall asleep when my body is not inclined to with great success. I don't have a clinical insomnia or anything, so your mileage may vary.

Its a very basic form of meditation coupled with self hypnosis.

How it works:

Subconscious mind is trained to associate the words 'deep relaxing sleep' with extremely-tired-"sleep-NOW" state.

I did it like this:

anytime I used to be super tired, as I hit the sack I recited that in my head. I did this for some time for the anchor to be deep enough not to get destroyed by a radically different state, and then at some point when I needed to fall asleep fast and was not tired at all, I cleared my mind and thought something along the lines of:
DEEP relaxing sleep
deep RELAXING sleep
deep relaxing SLEEP
...you get the idea.
Voila, reverse association triggered and in 2 mins I was out.

It's simple and it works on more levels then one.

If you need an amplifier, as you recite this stuff imagine your body getting warm and heavy from outside in (fingers, hands/feet/head, limbs/neck, torso/midsection) slowly and gradually.

good luck :) hope this helps some peeps

you need to work up the association before using it when not tired, I'd say a week or two of reciting this in your head ONLY when you are already so tired you KNOW you'll fall asleep almost instantly anyway. That develops the trigger in your mind, and afterwards you can reverse-trigger it when you are not tired. Of course this association needs to be maintained, meaning when you're tired you still do this more often than not.

With me, it's like a goodnight to myself now, I do it automatically when I go to sleep tired or not. I never have trouble falling asleep... the only times it doesnt work right away is when I wake up early in the morning for some reason and try to go back to sleep while not being sleepy at all. And even then it still works, I just need to do it for like 5-10mins and really relax using the amplifier (as described above).

have fun bro :)

Theres sometimes during the year where I can't sleep good for a while
so when I couldn't sleep.. i relaxed my body , trying to focus on my feet all th way to my head, each part. Cleared my mind, focusing on deep sleep.
One time I did this and I felt myself going into astral projection. I don't know if any of you believe in that or not. But I found out later the technique that i used to fall alseep is the same as what people use to try and go into the astral planes

i read this thread yesterday and went online to self-educate myself the concpet of astral projection. when i went to bed last night i had a dream that went something like this. I was going to bed, and reciting those words Ze-ev said to recite and thinking about my body the way that heather mentioned following the model for astrally projecting oneself. I floated out of my body and was moving through walls (this is in my dream still) and then woke up and was like whoa. then when i finally woke up this morning i was like "more whoa..". The more I thought about it, i realized that i'm pretty sure i've had this kind of experience before and never really knew what was going on and was hence rather frightened by it. i just think its facinating that the human mind can exist in 100 different levels of conciousness and we're really only very aware of the most superficial ones.

if you want to go even deeper, try BWG (brainwave generator). Most defualt presets are for everyday stuff like just deep sleep or accelerated learning, but there are some presets out there for it that are said to activate ESP (6th sense), make you empathic or almost telepathic and yes, astral-project, too.

Fascinating stuff, I tried it and it takes a bit of time to grow into but it DEFINITELY works (dont know about telepathy, but disassociation and ego-loss for sure).

yeah isn't it insane?
Its always good to picture a dumpster and throw all your thoughs in it and close it. Because to astral project you need to keep focus and not let your mind wander. Really hard to do that sometimes. But you relax each part of your body.. feet..legs..stomach..arms.. all the way to your head over and over again then I believe after you picture your self floating upwards. Anyways there are sites on it with more info.
I felt like I was floating upwards a few times but I always got so excited that I kept falling back down.
You have to teach yourself not to get excited.
I use to take online classes for astral projection but I didn't take them too seriously cause i was 15 then
