I feel this could spark a discussion by itself :

Like can't they even pretend for a second to listen to their crowd or the demand of true Headz as per where our clubs should get their Dj's??? Nyways, maybe I'm the one thats out of touch... maybe I should start doing pillz again..lol

Nah man, remember that today is all about fuckin' cash. Meaning, clubs like bring in any DJ that will generate ticket sales. I mean, if MC Mario was the next big thing, he'd be booked at Aria, Gravity and Circus.

What bothers me the most is clubs aren't doing ANYTHING to promote new talent, much less LOCAL talent. Even locals are always the same ( I love DJ Mini, don't get me wrong, but I know at least 6 other excellent electro DJs who could fill in for her ). But noooo, we prefer to serve the same people over and over again.

I'm also bothered about the fact that it's all popularity based. When some other DJ will grow more popular than Mini, she's gonna be tossed aside like a pair of old socks and no club will touch her with a 10 foot pole. No recognition unless you sell tickets.

Last I checked, a lot of rave DJs were able to play for years and decided for themselves to stop playing, meaning they were STILL getting booked but decided they've had enough of raves.

That's my 2¢. Feel free to comment on that. :)

Yeah it's pretty much all about -popularity- nowadays. Personally, I don't, I really dont give a shit about it (popularity). Fuck that I've heard not so well known dj's rockin' the place like no one. I could easily list dj names (local or not) who can *seriously* give a freakin good lesson to all those big names outhere. But since they are notpopular, we dont see their names regularly. I also noticed over the years that some big names usualy play too safer: they dont surprise the crowd anymore, they dont take any risks, they safely stay in the path. BUT...but they are popular so they get booked. Once they're not popular anymore, like a piece of shit the promoters throw them in the garbage can. Money whores.

I hope you didnt get us wrong, ufot... I was bitching at the big promoters who only think about the money, and not the love of the music.

I guess its pretty much the same with all the other things where big money gets involved... The primary love (here, the music) gets out of sight, and turns into a buisness. It's pretty strange & sad when you really think about it. :(

It is sad. I don't mind so much the fact that yes, promoting IS a business even though you don't want it to be.

What I'm pissed about is the lack of ETHICS involved : other promoter bashing, money stealing, throwing parties at the same time, brainwashing us with the same DJs over and over again, abusive flyering, ticket selling perversion ( music vs hot nekkid chicks pretending to think you're not just another fucking dork ), increasing the gender gap ( shitty ladies nights ).

Basically, making sure we all want to come every week to hear the exact same DJs playing the exact same records and making extra sure us males keep are cavemen IQ with a few pairs of barely dressed silicon titties.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all up for breasts but personnaly, I find a girl in a tight t-shirt with phat pants and plastic beads 100 times sexier than a girl with a bikini top and a mini-skirt ( imagination is the most devious erotic tool ).

I dunno about you but I sometimes feel like cattle in a bran : eat what everyone else is eaten, don't ask questions and wait in line to get butchered. :)

Which is why I like raves. One shot deal, never the same. God bless you, rave.
