I didnt hear a single beatmix from the opening jungle dj's ..

Sixtoo was very interesting he played with his sampler alot ,did some live song writting type stuff..8 on 10 baby..

Amon was playing very obscure stuff, the 5.1 dolby digital sound mad up for the noise of it all.
His dnb is pretty standard neuro funk ish heavy bassline driven stuff. He closed with Mantis which made me happy.

however,if you charge 25 plus dollars for a show i expect a little more than a standstill dj and some flashing lights, stage movement is very important to keep the non drug addicts interested,

i dont know if you left before his 2nd encore, but he actually closed with a DnB remix of Slayer's Reign in Blood.... Tobin was playing, in addition to some fairly standard DnB, numerous tracks of his older albums, as well as a couple of the new Chaos Theory, and lotsa weird shit i didn't recognize; heard some fucked rock samples in there: Soundgarden i think? Hendrix definitely.. and many more...

the lasers and smoke really made for a mash-out kinda show, best suited to eating mushrooms and zoning the fuck out.. for people expecting to dance or shmooze then ya, it was a little too much. Personally, from the moment i walked in, it reminded me of oldschoolness.. the simplicity of green lasers, massive strobes, and tons of smoke, really got me/ venue reminded me of Area 51 (anyone remember THAT shithole??>) or of a realyl crappy, rundown, and smaller version of Rialto...

the second encore was dope.

but for 25 bones i expect either girls in cages or an mc or and least someone tap dancing on stage.dont get me wrong,it was well worth it ,however if you were not high enough to enjoy the lazer's you were left twidling your thumbs for certain parts.

six too was very good, so was tobin, my only diss is the lasers. Too Low. Too Present. Too Annoying. Same with the strobes. I was in the back of the 'dance floor' and i couldnt see tobin at all. All i remember is bright green and strobe hits.

I also felt the 5.1 effects weren't quite 'clean'. Ya the sound was all around, but it didnt feel as he used it for any musical added value.

I also wish they didnt lie about the balcony so i didnt have to stand on a slanted floor for 3 hours. My knees... my feets... arrg..

Overall: Ok Show. Good Music. Bad Lights. Will buy six-too's album or single, had no time to check them out on the way out.

I went on Saturday, man was that an intense show.
Amon was so fucking heavy but it does kind of create a strange vibe. Overall I thought he was really good. The strobes were at harsh eye level, the lasers were wicked.

wasn't there - but i'd be pissed if there was an MC spitting over Amon T. His shit is cerebral and doesn't need it. I doubt he'd allow it either....

no he was using numark XDJ's or something.. they are CDJs. check out this story

heheheh.

frankly i couldnt see what he was doing at all but ya, i think he was probably using some shit in addition to the CDJs, but he had to play his 5.1 shit thru them if i'm not mistaken.. the only tracks that were TRUE 5.1 were the ones off his new CD (which wasn't much)...

and there WAS a balcony. it sucked casue you couldnt hear the surround sound at all, but it was there.. area 514 style..heheheh.

anyways i was there on the friday.. maybe he played didfferent shit on the saturday??

I wish I was at this show but I can state from experience that 5.1 sound isn't effecttive unless you are in a primespot in a room.. the middle might not even be the best place depending on the room and the crowd... In any venue 90% of the people are not going to be an an ideal spot.. 5.1 is diffecult to deal with when it comes to positioning the speakers.... Hell even stereo speakers need to be possitioned quite well for the stereo field to be proper.

Serious the first dj wasnt doin anythin Winamp couldnt do =p I wish ppl'd stop usin strobes like that, unless you get free lsd w/ ur ticket (wich was a bit much for what we got, imho) Amon was sick but i really didnt hear much "surround" to any of his tracks, mebe i wasnt in the right spot...but then i guess it wasnt really surround in that case was it? oh ya, strobes blow

Yeah, the 5.1 was muddy and there were no really cool obvious surround effects. Some visuals would have been nice too but overall Amon's sonic assault carried the show.
