Went to check it yesterday night.
Pretty good not as as good as the 1st one.

A blend of The Exorcist and Poltergeist I would say.

But still good and scary.

Anybody saw it also ? Post your comments

I hated it. It was so totally lame and not scary. They tried to take elements of Ringu 2 and Rasen to make this. Came off like The Excorcist with family morals thrown in.

The scariest scene in the thing is right at the end when the mother is in the well climbing up and Samara is climbing after her, just the way that Samara moves. But, the only reason that scene is even close to creepy is because it's (IMO) a pretty blatant ripoff of the restored "spiderwalk" scene in The Excorcist: The Version You've Never Seen Before.

This is suposed to be a ghost revenge story. The ghost isn't doing this because it wants to be loved, she's doing it because she was killed and is pissed off at the rest of the world for being alive when she had her life taken from her at such a young age.

Now she just wants a mommy? The way to get rid of her is to be a "good mother", and DROWN YOUR CHILD.

And they even fucked up the ghost aspect of it, because they're obviously setting it up for the 3rd movie. The crazy mother (Hi Carrie!) was talking about how you have to drown your kid to get the evil spirit out of it, because the spirit hates water. But then she goes on to say that she tried that on her OWN daughter (aka Samara), so, does that means that Samara wasn't just a psychic girl? She was posessed? And if the thing that's killing people is a demon or something, then why does it look like her and why is it that you have to do things that would hurt HER in the first one?

Couldn't they stand up in the well in the first one? Why is the bottom so deep? And the well isn't even in the same area as in the first. Diffrent types of trees, and the well looks diffrent (looks like the one from Ringu, not The Ring)

Tooo many problems, too many inconsistencies, trying to re-use all the same old scares as the first one, but totally innefective at it.

The first Ring, I'd give a 9/10 to (The horse thing really bugged me and didn't need to be there, and the overly americanised "Families have to stick together" message at the end were both completely unnecesary)

The Ring 2, I'm gonna give a 2/10, and that's only because a 1/10 would mean it was on the same level as Ghoulies 3 and Zombie Rednecks.

* SPOILERS *

CG deers

Oh lord

What was the meaning of this exactly ?

And CG Samara climbing the well with her feet, knees and hands

Bad acting

" Hey, you wanna see something scary ? " LOL " I wanna show you something, a tape ".

Overuse of the water reference

A bit predictable. When she climbs in the ambulance to check the face of the guy who was " Samarowned " just a couple of hours before, you know something's going to happen. Etc.

And some sequences were just awkward ! The son sitting on his bed in the clinic with the psychiatrist... " I want to show you something " : then he just keeps smiling like an idiot - his smirk his supposed to be scary but in fact it acts like a signal. Here ye, here ye, this evil smirk means something is going to happen. And then we see the psychiatrist " shoot " herself with air.

There were good sequences. The three in the room. Samara embracing the son in the bathroom.

And you knew that the actress playing the part of Samara's mom is actually the one who did Carrie ( S. King ).

SAVE YOUR MONEY... or Go see Constantine

The ending also...

In the first one, you knew the evil was still out there. The movie ends with the mother making copies of the cursed tape.

But the sequel makes me feel like Samara will not own anyone any longer, because the well is closed, she can't come out.

If you payed attention at the end of the movie, you notice that the camera pans up at the sky and the sky gets a little tv static jitter.

If you know how the story goes for The Ring, in the 3rd book you find out that everything that happened in The Ring 1+2 was actually a super-advanced computer simulation of "the real world" designed to simulate random supernatural phenomena and to see how people react to it to solve them in case these "situations" actually happen in the real world.

Problem is the simulation is so realistic that Samara and the tape end up REALLY happening in the real world, and obviously they have no idea how to deal with it because the simulation obviously didn't reveal anything that could actually stop her.

The tape starts gettig broadcast all over the world, people start dying all over in large amounts...

But that's the original 3rd, and that's just a novel, it hasn't been made into a movie yet...

Yeah, and it kinda sucked. It was more of a supernatural teen drama than horror. There's also an anime of Rasen that's aparently better than the original movie.
