Ok so I’ve got to apologize for not putting up any new releases lat week, what happened was, they all SOLD OUT. People ran in, grabbed all my new shit, and ran out. Thursday was like a tornado. Don’t you worry, DNA’s got your back bro, we’re restocking all da bomb shit and then we’re stocking some more…and you know what? We’re getting another shipment in tomorrow. Booyaka!

[DRUM & BASS]

D-Bridge VS Concord Dawn/D-Bridge VS Fierce – Labyrinth/Daylight on Exit.
Leading the pack as usual, D-Bridge has shown the world that there’s more to Bad Company then DJ Fresh! This twelve is showcasing his collaborative efforts, and the standout tune is ‘Labyrinth’ featuring Concord Dawn’s Killjoy. Wicked synths build an uplifting melody as rolling drum patterns hint to what’s about to come, and then the bass hits you. Pure New Zealand influenced kick-subs pound the shit out of your skull and the crowd goes wild. Flip it over and get a nice smoothed out number with help from Quarantine’s head-honcho Fierce.

Syncopix – General Hospital/Happy Happy Joy Joy on Hospital.
We actually had this record in the store last week…for like 30 seconds! Serve’s me right for not getting enough copies in the first time around. Anything and everything on Hospital is pretty much gold right now and if you haven’t heard this soap opera sampling gem then you better fix up. The flip was featured on the CD version of the ‘Weapons Of Mass Creation’ album and has been highly anticipated on vinyl ever since. Pick a side…any side.

Peshay – Ronaldo/You Got Me Burning (Ruffed Up Mix) on Cubik.
Remember when ‘You Got Me Burning’ first came out? Remember how it was way over the top and the amens came in all distorted and you were like “man I like this tune but it just gets too noisy”. Well it looks like Peshay felt the same way, the result is a slightly more chilled out mix, with a more steppy vibe, while maintaining the pure disco funk of the original.

Various – Dubplate Killaz EP1 on Ganja.
The first double-pack in what is turning out to be one seriously heavy compilation. DJ Hype is behind this one if you didn’t know already, and when it comes to the Ganja sound, he’s been keeping it pretty noisy lately. This one features new tunes from Hazard, Potential Bad Boy, and the man himself. To be honest I’m not quite sure what to think of this album. While styles of drum & bass keep branching out further and further, I find it’s getting harder and harder to find similarities to keep them united. This stuff doesn’t sound anything like the Hype I used to know, and it’s miles away from everything else, I can only hope he redefines his sound yet again and reminds us why he’s the man.

Technical Itch – Life Of Sin/Dream Strike on Penetration.
Another guy I’ve been having a lot of trouble liking lately. The weird thing is that until recently, Tech Itch was on fire, and so were his labels. ‘The Ruckus’, ‘The Calling’, heck, ANY tune with the word ‘The’ in front of it. What’s up with this stuff? This isn’t even as good as ‘Soldiers’. I’ve got to just sit at home and pray to the drum & bass gods that he doesn’t lose the plot entirely.

Militia – Let Loose/Bad Move on Shogun.
The powerhouse crew that is Stakka, Friction, Nu Balance & K-Tee break things up a little and give us two very different examples of how they can clobber a dancefloor. ‘Let Loose’ features Friction and K-Tee running ‘tings with an epic un-mixable intro, dropping into big room wonky bass as only Friction can. The flip is much more promising with it’s driving beats and bass, reminiscent of their recent hit ‘Warcry’, but with more synth stabs.

Conquering Lion – Code Red/94 Remix on Congo Natty.
What can be said about one of the most historic jungle tracks of all time…..Oh…I know! WHY DON’T YOU OWN THIS RECORD YET? You call yourself a “junglist” eh? Got your camo bandana and everything sure…Where’s your CODE RED eh? Come on “rude-bwoy”, where is it?!!?!? Oh you don’t have it? Well then how are you going to know the words when it’s time to sing along? Guess you’ll be the one looking around for netting to pull on, while all the REAL junglists scream their lungs out. Don’t worry, we’ll keep your dirty little secret….you PHONY!

That’s all for now…

I actually don't have Pack Of Wolves in stock but it's pretty easy to order. If you want the original it's only available now on a double-pack but the Pendulum & Matrix remixes are also available on a seperate 12-inch.

And by the way Scotty...it's mega gay now.

[DRUM & BASS]

Rob F – Resistance/Rob F & Kiko – The Beholder (Chris Su RMX) on Hostile.
New York’s king of neurofunk Negative brings his label up to five releases with Synthetix legend Rob F rocking the a-side as only he can. The real jam here however, is on the flip. Tactile’s Chris Su takes what was already a very funky tech-step number and tactfully accentuates all the best parts of the original and comes up with a big winner. Hot as Hungary.

Decorum – Contrax (Weapon Remix)/Contrax VIP on Liftin Spirit.
I remember when this tune first came out on Liftin Spirit a few years back, and it was pretty big back then, this time around Dieselboy along with his cohorts Kaos, Karl K & Jae Kennedy have been given the honors. This has got to be the biggest tune of the week, blending the deep RAM sound with Dieselboy’s heavy Human Imprint vibe, it’s unstoppable people. The flip is very hot as well, although it’s unclear who produced it. Seriously though, don’t sleep on this record, resistance is futile.

Pacific – Another Place/Inferno on Explicit.
BC’s Pacific is back once again, this time for Explicit’s second single. The Matrix vibes keep coming on strong on both sides of this one, funky rolling drums along thick chunky basslines always makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. While these two tunes do share a lot in common with Pacific’s last release on Rehab, that doesn’t make them any less awesome, and highly recommendable to anyone looking to the smoother edge of dancefloor bliss.

Silent Witness & Break – Dialing Out/Godpad on Critical.
Wicked combination of flavors on this, Silent Witness & Break’s first outing on the highly respected and eclectic Critical imprint. Combining the techier sounds of their DNAudio works with their more breakbeat driven material from East Side, ‘Dialing Out’ is simply next level of dubwise d&b. That’s right I said it. Wicked horns run throughout this funky little number and accentuate it in all the right spots. Keep your eyes peeled for the huge ‘Staggered Dub’ from Breakage.

Tactile – Falmouth/Mist on Function
More fresh material coming from the Hungarian quartet. ‘Falmouth’ is pure classic Digital, in his early L Plates days, funky dub-tech drums, deep thumping bass, and those cool knocking sounds that were all the rage back then. ‘Mist’ chills things out on the flip but maintains the vibe injected from the a-side. All in all it’s another solid twelve from these guys, but let’s face it, when you’ve take 4 guys with this much experience in drum & bass and put them in a studio together, you can pretty much count on something dope coming out every time.

Calibre feat. MC Fats – Drop It Down/Bleep on Signature.
BACK IN!!!
