Im looking for pro. opinions...
I already have a master control stuido (mixer, alesis reverb box, Roland Fantom keyboard, cpu with lots of progs. etc..)

I want to buy myself a beat machine with a sampler in it.
I don't know witch one have the better quality and most compatibilty.

roland mc-909 ?

Elektron machinedrums sps-1 ?

Korg tribal-art ?

If the drum machine doesn't have a sampler in it, there's no problem if the groove box is quality ( like the Korg doesn't have I think, but 500$ so could affort a separate sampler...)
you have any suggestions or personnal experience about groove box ? let me know.

Roland MV-8000, not quite the same as what you're looking at, but a nice peice of machinery and more affordable than an MPC 4000

Nailbunny...

I got a independant cpu mixstreme SS810,real or not, it works good. elemental gear for hybrid live. the keyboard in the card, get + from digital effects, etc. redirect into the master deck to have a synthese modulate analogic sound. That record into the same procedure. That why, adding guitare playing, real drums, (live mic), harmonica, flute and/or set de cueiller de bois, you have a definitivly better recording quality.

For the roland 8000, looks like a good sampler, more complete on some details but compare with the 909, it got less "live availability" but in fact greater compatibiliy.

I just would like your feed back about gears that improve live set capability...
Even turn table gears... Let's get rock on.

ps: anyone used a Akai ?

i own an Akai MPC 2000, for production or live incorporation, it is very very useful, as is the Roland, though i have yet to use it in an actual
"live" event, just messing around with it as a "live" instrument here at home, i know it has amzing capabilaties, plus, i've watched Mr.Dibbs use it
wildly for live shows, and i know Dj Shadow has
at least one for his tour....except maybe his latest tour "On Beat and In Tune"

they're great machines
both MPC and the Roland

though i've heard that the Roland takes getting
used to if you're coming from an MPC

Elektron makes amazing stuff and the 909 looks cool too. If i remember correctly the yammy rs7000 is shweet too. But you said u want pro opinions. Pro's usually advice against "boxes" but you mentionned the best which offer at leaest a bit of expandability so their ok. What ever you choose to buy will be hours of fun.

I agree with paul, boxes are a lot of fun, but that's cause most of them are toys.. Good for getting ideas out, but they get creamed by the software options available now

probably one of the only producers out there now that could have pulled it off like he did

even though his proficency gets me nerved up sometimes, he does Blue Note more than justice

i just found a bunch of blue note records in my collection, i just got a huge box of wax for my birth update
