Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.

Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.

Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?

Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?

oh ian...
hypothetical situation:
You have a friend to whom you made a promise not to interfere in his affairs, now if he's doing something you don't approve of, do you interfere? You made a promise not to. He has free choice. God made that promise to us. To allow us to act as we will. How can you say he is willing but not able, he is both, but also recognizes that interfering with rational creatures he promised not to would be wrong. Evil you say? You dare say that God created evil? How can you? Especially living in this world! You see stupid, immoral people everyday. We chose to be evil. God did not make us so. He merely gave us a chance at freedom, we're teh ones who blew it. I may not like God too much right now because I can't understand how he can idly watch while so much evil is going on, but then I realize that it is not through any fault of his own. Man asked for freedom and God made an oath to us that we should have it. He made an oath and intends on keeping it. Would you not say that a good friend keeps his promises? Then God is the best of friends for keeping this one. Even though it causes him much pain.

we are supposed to praise someone who gives us a gun when he knows we're gonna shoot ourselves in the foot cause we don't know how to use it..?

besides, we don't even know for fact that such a being exists.. this is all theoretical.

there IS no conclusive proof that any god exists.

there's no proof that anything exists... we say 2 + 2 = 4
what the fuck does that mean!?!?!?!
we made up the number 2. we invnted it. if it weren't for some jackass neaderthal who said "hey ill make up numbers today" what would we "know"? how would we proove things?
math relies just as much on faith as religion. except we defined math ourselves.

There is a rather large (500 page or so) book with a full scientific explanation that 2+2=4
And god exists. Everyone is their own god. Everyone chooses their path in life and should learn to take responsibility when they fuck their shit up instead of whining and bitching.

that book is called the Principia Mathematica, by Bertrand Russell.

( incidently, he proves that 1+1=2 on page 144 of full-on syntactic logic )

god is a mere invention of the egotistical human mind that believes humans are so damn special that the universe was created for us to have.

how many people can honnestly say that if no one had told them about 'god' that they would have come up with the concept on their own..?

the only reason people believe is because someone taught them to do so.
