**Third Eye Blind**
Semi-Charmed Life "Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo... I'm packed and I'm holding I'm smiling She living she golden and she lives for me Says she lives for me Ovation her own motivation She comes round and she goes down on me And I make her smile Like a drug for you Do ever what you want to do Coming over you Keep on smiling what we go through One stop to the rhythm that divides you And I speak to you like the chorus to the verse Chop another line like a coda with a curse Come on like a freak show takes the stage We give them the games we play She said I want something else To get me through this Semi-charmed kind of life baby baby I want something else I'm not listening when you say Good-bye Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo... The sky was gold, it was rose I was taking sips of it to my nose And I wish I could get back there Some place back there Smiling in the pictures you would take Doing crystal myth Will lift you up until you break It won't stop, I won't come down, I keep stock With a tick tock rhythm and a bump for the drop And then I bumped up I took the hit I was given Then I bumped again And then I bumped again she said How do I get back there to The place where I fell asleep inside you How do I get myself back to The place where you said I want something else to get me through this Semi-charmed kind of life baby baby I want something else I'm not listening when you say Good-bye I believe in the sand beneath my toes The beach gives a feeling an earthy feeling I believe in the faith that grows And the four right chords can make me cry When I'm with you I feel like I could die And that would be all right, all right [the following part was cut out of the radio edit] When the plane came in She said she was crashing The velvet it rips in the city we tripped On the urge to feel alive but now I'm struggling to survive Those days you were wearing that velvet dress You're the priestess I must confess Those little red panties they pass the test Slides up around the belly Face down on the mattress One, and you hold me and we're broken Still it's all that I want to do just a little now Feel myself heavy as the ground I'm scared but I'm not coming down no no And I won't run for my life She's got her jaws now locked down in a smile But nothing is all right, all right [end of part that was edited out] I want something else To get me through this life baby I want something else Not listening when you say Good-bye Good-bye Good-bye Good-bye Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo... The sky was gold it was rose I was taking sips of it to my nose And I wish I could get back there someplace Back there in the place we used to Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo... I want something else..." **Foreigner** Cold As Ice "Youre as cold as ice, youre willing to sacrifice, our love You never take advice, someday you'll pay the price, I know Ive seen it before, it happens all the time Youre closing the door, you leave the world behind Youre digging for gold, you're throwing away A fortune in feelings, but someday you'll pay Youre as cold as ice, youre willing to sacrifice, our love You want paradise, but someday you'll pay the price, I know Ive seen it before, it happens all the time Youre closing the door, you leave the world behind You're digging for gold, you're throwing away A fortune in feelings, but someday you'll pay Cold as ice - you know that you are Cold as ice - as cold as ice to me Cold as ice You're as cold as ice, cold as ice, I know, yes I know You're as cold as ice, cold as ice, I know, oh yes I know You're as cold as ice, cold as ice, I know, oh yes I know You're as cold as ice... (to fade)" think of anymore? |

god dammit that bothered me so much i had to confirm it was really about meth.
here's the proof: The first song Third Eye Blind ever released on the radio, and probably the most interesting of their hits so far, was "Semi charmed Life." The song’s lyrical concerns are so unusual for pop radio. It is mostly about oral sex addiction, though all anybody ever seems to notice is the song’s catchy little "doo doo doo" chorus. "It sounds bright and shiny for a reason…It’s supposed to sound attractive because the song is about the allure of a decadent lifestyle. But it is also a cautionary tale. There are real consequences to the choices we make. Doing crystal-meth will lift you up until you break." (Freedom du Lac) The song and the lyrics take me back to the first half of senior year. Wonderful, wild, out of control are three words that pretty much sum up this period in my life. With troubles at home I let the "allure of a decadent lifestyle," as Jenkins puts it, grab hold of me. It was a way to escape the troubles at home, "I want something else to get me through this / semi-charmed life," and it was fun. It made me feel good, at least at first. The brilliant upbeat pop sound the song has represents this feeling perfectly. My closest friends were all experiencing troubles and we ended up in the same situation together. We found ourselves getting deeper and deeper in. "On the urge to feel alive / But now I’m struggling to survive." My parents were able to help me a little, but my best friend got sucked further into the whole scene. I can remember watching my friend in his downward spiral with drugs and sex. The song is about Jenkins and his ex-girlfriend, but their situation is representative. The two of us often felt stranded in this world we created too. I remember our long talks about the problems we were facing and how they often ended in getting drunk or in smoking a bowl. "Now you hold me, and we’re broken / still it’s all that I want to do." |

Ice is just a nickname for crystal meth cause it looks like ice..
I dont think the song "you're as cold as ice" is refering to crystal meth.. Ice.. like frozen water is cold.. Theres a way people act called "being cold" |

Thanks elka.
and Nice one Chelsea!! and Kafwin... as with everything in life is all a matter of perspective... My annalysis, **Foreigner** Cold As Ice "Youre as cold as ice, youre willing to sacrifice, our love You never take advice, someday you'll pay the price, I know" From watching some of my best friends fall into meth I know they never take advice... and someday they'll pay the price, I know. "Ive seen it before, it happens all the time Youre closing the door, you leave the world behind Youre digging for gold, you're throwing away A fortune in feelings, but someday you'll pay" I have seen it before. It does happen all the time. They close the door on a world that has a fortune in feelings... in search of something else... for imagery's(and rhyming) sake lets call it gold. "Youre as cold as ice, youre willing to sacrifice, our love You want paradise, but someday you'll pay the price, I know" Addiction forms a NEED that is willing to sacrific morality, loyalty, self respect, "our love"... all in search of "paradise." But that kind of paradise doesnt last for long. and they will pay the price. I know. |
