MAN FACES FEDERAL DRUG CHARGE

TAMPA -- [identity deleted], now faces a federal drug charge stemming
from a recent traffic stop.

[Name deleted] -- also known as [name deleted] -- was arrested Sept.
28 after he allegedly fled on foot when his vehicle was stopped at
42nd Street in Auburndale, according to a Polk County Sheriff's Office report.

Deputies managed to capture [name deleted] and later recovered more
than 60 grams of cocaine on the passenger floorboard of his vehicle,
reports state.

A federal grand jury indicted [name deleted] on Nov. 1 for possession
with the intent to distribute 50 grams or more of crack cocaine. If
convicted as charged, [name deleted] could face a minimum of 10 years
to a maximum of life in prison.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Thomas G. Wilson denied [name deleted]'s
request for bail Nov. 21, finding him to be a danger to the
community. Court records do not indicate in which prison [name
deleted] is being held.

[name deleted] had to be "chased, tackled and finally halted at
gunpoint" before he could be arrested, according to the judge's order.

Wilson wrote that [name deleted] continued to struggle with officers
and kicked out part of the reinforced glass door of his cell.

The judge was particularly troubled by testimony that [name deleted]
threatened to harm a detective's family.

"This chilling thought, in my view, provides clear and convincing
evidence that he presents a danger to members of the community and
should therefore be detained," the judge wrote.
