how do you deal with your roomates? It's never easy living with someone but some people are harde than others, how do you know if it's gonna work beforehand, how do you know when it's not working, what are some ways to deal with unrruly roomies?

I use to beat up the last roommate i had. Oh and when he was cheating on his G/F i use to take advantage of the fact that I knew it and his girl didnt so, he was doing pretty much everything i wanted him to do
How fun! | |

it's very hard to live with other people. perssonaly it was never working for me except if i stay with a lover.. i had few roomates and wasn't lucky at all! i have to mention that unfortunatly i never got to stay with my close friends.. an experiences that i know would work very well! it's always more easy to respect the other roomate when it's a good friend..
i'm by myself since i'm 16 yo and all the roomates experiences i had was very bad. one was in psychose, the other was stealing my clothes and make-up, an other one was horrible with her boyfriend and just very fugly, she was always screaming. i can be pretty quiet and a very lonely person so i supose it was hard too for the other girl or boy.. they must think they were living with a ghost! hahaha! i'm verry verry more happy when i live alone and i don't have to deal with any quasi-stranger.. i even prefer pay more ! i think the best when a problem happen is to talk right away with the person, don't let things go... and not be shy to say what bother.. if u wait the other can think that u don't mind how they behave.. make clear the rules at the begining of the co-habitation is really good too. but i prefered living with men than woman.i think that's better 1 woman by house! hehe why u ask? do u have a proplem? or do u feel your new roomate gonna be a problem?

You need to live with people who match your personality, or at least are willing to comprimise.
You also have to be ready to take a stand when needed. |

don't live with strangers...
they are all weirdo's and when you don't know somebody well enough you tend to tip toe around things rather than face them head on... which is how roomate troubles usually start. its also good to have a bare minimum of 500-600 square ft per person in our house. even if your best friends smaller quarters will make you kill each other. and buying a dishwasher (if your buiding allows it) will save everybody alot of screaming and yelling.

you need to live with someone who's lifestyle is close to yours. if not many problems can arise. like think about paring a lazy person with a go-getter = TROUBLE
you have to see eye to eye with someone or else many things can go wrong. my advice is to be brutally honest with each other, that way problems will never escalate. if something bothers, tell them right away. hard feelings grow with every moment you stay quiet

I went from no roomate to 3 roomates on the same day.
I'm the original, so they have to work to be worthy of staying. If your a noob, tough luck. Do the dishes.

It's all about having compatible personnalities. Communication is also important. My tip would be to take the time once a month to talk about life in the appartment. This way, you can talk about the little things that bother you before it causes drama. When everyone's willing to make compromises, everything works.
Remember that in 90% of arguments, both parties are right, and you have to find a compromise. Live and let live is the rule here.

Or you could find that 10% and make them bleed their souls by stabbing heartlessly at their every flaws.
That's if they didn't pay rent yet.

Heh... I've never had room-mates but I'm thinking I'll probably have a few when I move out to Calgary. I'm hoping that the experience is one that goes over well. I'm pretty outspoken and I'm a pretty chatty people person, especially with people I live with. Also, having room-mates will solve that whole "meeting new people" problem! Hopefully at least one of them is a Calgary native that can show me around. Mise À Jour » HowssBoi a écrit sur Tue 19 Sep, 2006 @ 3:30am QUESTION: If some of your room-mates are of the opposite sex, I guess that the general rule of thumb is to not get romantically involved. Right?

you need to go to your future roommate's house and check out if it's clean inside. Cause you don't wanna end up living with a filthy pig who never cleans anything, with the lame excuse that he/she is lazy or never at home.
