I can't believe I am saying this, but I feel part of Gill's pain. He looks like any other kid but took too much shit. I don't think he realized what he was doing and if he didn't have that gun, this never would have happened. NEVER.

Next time ANY of you disrespect some random guy or laugh at someone because you feel like it. Remember what can happen. NO it's not fair what he did to those innocent kids and I think he ultimately got what he had coming, but life isn't fair anyway because of all the real assholes in this world who pretend human emotion is a weakness and pray on those who don't get the hot girlfriends or the cool friends. This kid was likely mentally tortured and no one told him it was normal and that life goes on. Now, his life is over, along with someone who especially didn't deserve it. I am PISSED at him for being such a freaking moron but I am MORE pissed at the world because I understand why he did what he did.

There are times in our life that we all feel like shooting up Dawson, but we don't do it because we're even bigger pussies than we want to admit(i'll speak for myself if you disagree) or we have some common sense and get over our pain.
*** Having that gun beside him when he hit that day gave him confidance, it gave him motive, it gave him means. It could have been ANY one of us on the worst days of our lives, and consequently the last. I am SO sad about what happened but I can NOT say that I am suprised one bit. HATE is the precursor to the most horrible acts in our reality. STOP FUCKING HATING. Life is way too short to make someone else miserable on purpose.

AMEN to that. I've said it before, and, rather than say it again, I will just quote an excerpt from my first post in our lovely journals section, because I don't expect anyone to have bothered reading any of them.

I'd spent so long in a hospital bed unconcious that I had to learn how to walk and talk again because all of my muscles had atrophied. For years after, breakfast included 36 pills and supper included 24. Some of the many side effects were fun things like water retention, false hungers, hair loss, mood swings, bladder infections, immune system supression, acne (even worse, anyways)

When I went back to school, I had gone from being 130lbs to roughly 290lbs, with a case of acne that was worse than anyone going through puberty, a completely diffrent voice that was constantly cracking more than usual, and a receding hairline.

I immediately became the butt of all jokes. Everyone made fun of me. My life was a living hell.

Most people would say that it's a normal part of childhood, but what I was put through by those fucking idiots can only be described as torture, and the teachers let it all happen. If I'd have had acces to guns back then, Columbine would not have been the first massacre of a school you'd have heard about.

I spent countless nights awake fantasizing about some kind of terrorist group coming into our school and taking us hostage, and to avoid having them kill me, I "convert" to whatever their cause was and prove myself to them by killing all of my classmates and teachers.

When I think of Harris and Klebold, I think of heroes.

I wish I would have had the balls to do what they did, to stand up to all of the bullshit that I was being put through by other students and to the teachers' indiference to it all. I didn't want notoriety, I didn't want to be remembered for it, I just wanted the torment to end.

I'm not saying that mass-murder is the answer to all of your highschool problems, but when you have been pushed around and abused and tortured to the point where you feel you need to commit a massacre, just to get a little breathing space, something is seriously wrong with the system and it's administrators for letting this kind of abuse go on unchecked.

Apparently the guy didn't go to Dawson, if he did he would have realized there are tons of weirdo goth people to hang out with (I don't mean that in a bad way, I hung out with a lot of those people).. I also knew people from the "prep" scene or whatever this fucker calls it and they were fine people too. It's stupid to judge and stereotype. That's probably what people did to him and he ended up the same way "kill all the preps" or whatever.

Yeah, there are some references to "vengeance on the bullies", which I would agree with, except that, like SottyP mentioned, he didn't even go to Dawson, so all of the revenge of the nerds theory goes out the window. Besides, at 25, his schooling days were over, so why didn't he find all the bastards that actually may (MAY) have picked on him and take it out them? 'Cause he's a coward, afraid of those very people. Why drive from Laval, or wherever, and go dowtown to pick off a bunch of innocent school kids that have never affected him? 'Cause he was too lazy to seek out his true agressors (if there ever really were any)...so he found a good sized crowd full of people that fit the description of those he disliked. This is different than Columbine. This is different from all the past school massacres...

yeah this seems more and more like a random shooting. There might not be any explanation aside from the fact the guy wanted to kill the most people he could...

The entire event is tragic. Hopefully the remaining victims will recover and be able to go on living healthy 'normal' lives despite the obvious trauma that they went through. Those of you who wish to express their condolences to the DeSousa family should sign the obituary guestbook at: [ www.legacy.com ]

I did.

None of the guns this guy had were purchased illegally. This isn't the type of guy to buy guns from some guy off the street, he's a loser.

fucked up!!! i thought pistols were outlawed except from when u had em before '80 or something. Plus, wouldnt a semi automatic necessitate a special reason like working as high risk security guard? For hunting, they only give shotgun licenses, according to my hunter friend. Why would any agency license a semiautomatic with no reason?

Unless of course he worked with some law enforcement which doesnt seem this way...

And what news sources? CBC says nothing on the subject, unless im just a blind old fucker in the end of the work day
