I calculate a higher probability that they're gays pretending to be straight men, who are in turn pretending to act gay... The justification for a heterosexual man acting gay to attract women who are ironically, (for whatever reason, subconsciously or otherwise) attracted to men who are "in touch with their feminine side" looks more (in my opinion) like a cover up because they wish to feel more accepted by the generally homophobic society as acting gay men without actually admitting that they are indeed gay. This way they can act openly homosexual while those around them are still convinced that they aren't. (Similar to the vampire theatre in Anne Rice's 'Interview with the vampire' where the vampires pretended to be humans acting as vampires) Its actually a quite genius application of multi-level reverse psychology. This 'metrosexual' lifestyle would not be my recommendation to any gay man who isnt confortable with their sexuality personally, or within society. (Then again those who are comfortable with their homosexuality often don't need to hide it) It's called living a lie... pretending to be something you're not only to act the way you really are to avoid being judged. |
