WIKI: Saturne dévorant un de ses enfants est une des peintures noires de Francisco Goya. Ce tableau réfère à la mythologie romaine et grecque, où Saturne a pour nom Cronos. Alors qu'Ouranos empêchait Gaïa d'accoucher des Titans en la pénétrant sans relâche, son fils Cronos prit une arme et trancha le pénis d'Ouranos. Ouranos jeta sur lui une malédiction : lorsque le fils de Cronos atteindra l'âge adulte, il se retournera contre son père. Pour prévenir ce renversement, Cronos dévorait tous les enfants dont accouchait Rhéa. Les yeux exorbités du Saturne de Goya expriment cette horreur de dévorer, mais il le fait par nécessité. Autrement, ce sera lui qui sera dévoré. |
