| Description: | Safia Nihil is the project of the two co-founders of the electronic record label Chez.Kito.Kat records. Safia, this Arab-Muslim first name, is an ode to wisdom, purity and generosity, and Nihil, the diminutive of nihilism. Their sonic canvases draw their influences from downtempo lofi, breakbeat, modal jazz, acid, and traditional Maghreb music, using modular synthesizers, drum machines, and vintage echoes to create rich and evolving sonic textures. The duo -Shadya and DBY- DJs and producers have joined forces and energies to highlight sounds that trace their musical journey over the past 30 years. Safia Nihil offered a Canadian premiere for the Mutek Montréal 2025 Festival as a celebration of their first EP (Autotrophia I), which be released on Chez.Kito.Kat Records and distributed by Underscope. Their DJ set goes through a large spectre of electronic music and more!
DJ Hermano-as a vinyl selector and collector-, his passion for music has taken him across most of the continent, playing on the line-ups of major festivals, parties & clubs in the region and around the world. His vast musical collection and passion focus on Disco, but his mixing style cannot be reduced to a single genre. Still influenced by his Brazilian roots, he incorporates editions from the 80s and 90s, as well as contemporary electronic music. |
