DESCRIPTION:The band’s fourth album\, “Mezmerize” which entered at #1 on the Billboard/Soundscan chart and also came in at No 1 on numerous music charts around the world bringing the first week’s worldwide sales in excess of 800\,000 copies since its release on May 17.\n\nVocalist Serj Tankian\, guitarist Daron Malakian\, bassist Shavo Odadjian\, and drummer John Dolmayan formed System of a Down in Southern California in the mid-’90s and struck a balance between ’80s underground thrash metal and metallic early-’90s alternative rockers. Their dark\, neo-gothic alternative metal earned a cult following in the wake of the popularity. "Mezmerize" is the follow-up to the nearly six-million-selling "Toxicity" which was released in September 2001 and also debuted in the Number One position on the Billboard/Soundscan charts.
