SUMMARY:BEATS X SAT — [Unfolded]
LOCATION:Société des arts technologiques
URL:https://www.rave.ca/en/event/57171/
DESCRIPTION:A roaming performance event where live and digital arts take over the space in various forms: performances\, interactive objects\, visual environments\, and DJ sets.\n\nWhen technology seeps into movement and everyday life\, BEATS Collective explores how it transforms our bodies\, behaviours\, and relationships. With [Unfolded]\, the collective takes this exploration beyond the traditional performance format\, imagining a more open form in which its own practice enters into dialogue with those of other artists.\n\nBEATS returns to the Société des arts technologiques [SAT] for an evening conceived and curated by the collective\, co-produced with the SAT and presented in collaboration with CINARS. For the occasion\, the BEATS performance unfolds in three parts\, choreographed and directed by Stefania Skoryna\, with Molly Siboulet-Ryan as the lead performer. This new iteration gives rise to original collaborations\, including a duet between Hamie Robitaille and Ganesh Baron Aloir\, as well as an encounter between composer Yuki Berthiaume and Collectif Fractus. The evening also brings together guest artists Amos Peled\, Myriam Bleau\, and Nien Tzu Weng\, whose practices expand on and challenge the questions at the heart of BEATS.\n\nPresented as part of the SAT’s 30th anniversary\, the evening is conceived as a continuous\, roaming experience\, bringing together artists whose practices resonate with the themes explored by BEATS. At the heart of the experience is an interactive floor co-developed with the SAT and LAB7\, accompanying audiences throughout the evening.\n\nThe relationship between bodies and technology\, the systems that shape our behaviours\, and collective tensions become points of connection between otherwise distinct artistic practices. Performances emerge throughout the evening\, gradually transforming the space until the atmosphere shifts into something more industrial\, collective\, and dance-driven.\n\nExperience Structure\nIntroduction: BEATS Collective / Part I\n\nExperience 1: Amos Peled / Phantom Limb\n\nExperience 2: Myriam Bleau and Nien Tzu Weng / Second Self\n\nExperience 3: BEATS Collective / Part II / BEATS 180\n\nIntensity: Collectif Fractus / DJ Set\n\nDecompression: BEATS Collective / Part III
