We believe magic happens through DIY + DIT (Do It Together) ethics. We welcome you to come as you are\, come play\, come share. In an effort to increase accessibility\, our events are pay what you can\, with organizers + DJs generously volunteering.\n\nHop the fence\, the grass is greener in this vacant lot!\n___\n(𝙏𝙞𝙤𝙝𝙩𝙞á:𝙠𝙚/𝙈𝙤𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙮𝙖𝙣𝙜/𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧é𝙖𝙡) 𝙞𝙨 𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙆𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙚𝙣’𝙠𝙚𝙝à:𝙠𝙖\, 𝙖 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙝 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙚𝙭𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙖𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙨𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙆𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙚𝙣’𝙠𝙚𝙝á:𝙠𝙖 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙃𝙖𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙨𝙖𝙪𝙣𝙚𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙛𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙮\, 𝙃𝙪𝙧𝙤𝙣/𝙒𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙩\, 𝘼𝙗𝙚𝙣𝙖𝙠𝙞\, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘼𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙖𝙗𝙚𝙜. Please be discreet while approaching the site as to not attract unwanted attention.\n\nQ: Are there any legal risks in attending these events?\nA: In the event of a noise complaint\, police may arrive and issue a warning\, usually asking organizers to end the event and pack up. If the event continues after that\, organizers could face fines. Attendees are typically not penalized and will simply be asked to leave. If this happens\, please stay calm\, follow instructions\, and leave the area respectfully.\n\nQ: Are we doing anything to make sure the party doesn’t get shut down?\nA: Yes\, while you can never predict when police will show up\, we carefully choose our spots and schedules to minimize the chance of noise complaints.\n\nQ: What should I bring?\nA: Wear something comfortable\, it may be muddy and it might get chilly at night so wear appropriate footwear and pack some layers just in case. Bug spray and water is also a good idea! If you choose to take any substances\, consume moderately and remember the golden harm reduction rule: you can always take more\, but you can never take less.\n\nQ: What harm reduction measures are you taking?\nA: We will have dedicated staff and volunteers on site with knowledge in harm reduction and deescalation. These kind souls will also have naloxone kits. We want to ensure that our raves are a safer space for people to exist as they are\, we have a zero tolerance for any bigotry or harassment. If you feel uncomfortable\, or you have any issues\, reach out to any of the organizers or volunteers You can find them near the DJ booth\, the bar or in the visuals booth.\n\nQ: Will there be food and drinks?\nA: We will have drinks and small bites for sale\, as well as free water and fruits.\n\nQ: Why pay-what-you-can tickets?\nA: We want to keep our events as open and inclusive as possible\, and that means making sure anyone regardless of their financial situation can still party. That being said\, throwing events comes with costs and we try to pay our artists a symbolic fee\, so we encourage you to give what you can!\n\nQ: Why organize this clandestinely? Couldn’t you just do this in a club or bar?\nA: We believe that rave culture exists and thrives in spaces outside of conventional commercial venues. We try to reclaim electronic music culture and bring it back to its roots as a scene created by the marginalized\, for the community and those values are incompatible with the way commercial venues and noise bylaws work. It's also really fun to be outside\, and we don't get to do it often enough in Montreal!\n\nQ: Is there any way I could participate or help out?\nA: Absolutely! None of our events would’ve been possible if not for the members of our community who have generously given us their time and care to make these possible. Feel free to reach out to us to lend a hand at any of our events\, we always need help installing or cleaning up the site afterwards or just keeping an eye on things and making sure the party goes smoothly.\n\nQ: How can I play at Fence Hop?\nA: We’re always happy to receive your mixes. If we’re interested in collaborating\, we’ll add you to our list of artists we’d like to book. That being said\, we give priority to artists who attend our events and with whom we’ve built a connection.\n\nQ: Is this a recession indicator?\nA: Probably\, but also recessions make the best parties \;)
