DESCRIPTION:First set highlights the gamelan duo CIRAT Sound\, composed of Arya (I Putu Arya\nDeva Suryanegara) and Sraya (Ni Nyoman Srayamurtikanti). By combining\ntraditional Balinese instruments\, live electronics\, interactive lighting\, and\nmovement\, the artists create an immersive auditory and visual experience. The\nwork affirms gamelan as a living tradition\, embedded in contemporary sound art\nand performance practices. \n\nSecond set features four Montreal-based improvisational musicians who\, together\,\ncreate a living sonic archipelago: Navid Navab\, a gestural alchemist and\nexplorer of micro-sounds\; Maya Kuroki\, vocals and movement\, known for her work\nwith the psychedelic-rock collective TEKE::TEKE\; Rainer Wiens\, on kalimba and\nguitar\; and Sam Shalabi\, an Egyptian-Canadian composer who blends Arabic\, jazz\,\nand punk influences.
