it's not about software AT ALL
...software is 0.1% of the equation

An old+experienced studio engineer that has never used a piece of software before will do a much better job with it than someone that knows the software's manual by heart.

It's about training your ears and understanding "mixing". Obviously, music theory comes into play too, but some people don't know any theory and make masterpieces (I guess it depends how musical you are)...

I was told by many established engineers that sound engineering school isn't useful for EDM production. You're better off learning from EDM engineers. Sound engineering school is usually focused on recording techniques and mixing techniques, which can be useful, but probably not worth the money.

It's pretty well edited actually, and I'm glad to look like a tool and say a few words in it :D

Would've been cool to have some narration but this is the best Canadian rave movie I've seen. Usually the people involved are so sketchy that they never go anywhere. I won't name names but anybody from Ottawa knows what I'm talking about :P

That's not related to being DSP based in any way. It's just that most plugins for DSP based systems are really top of the line. Sonnox, TC and UAD are the best...

Since all his friends got in for free, and it's his birthday, perhaps they could have split his cover

3$ each to attend a rave seems far from unreasonable to me.

Just my opinion though.

can't easily expand a selection that was made when zoomed in (essential for proper zero crossing editing) for example

There's Cubase for mac and it's wicked...I'm on Cubase 5 on my mac.
Not sure there's a crack but the academic editions are really cheap anyways.

Audacity is a piece of crap. I have yet to find anything that comes close to Sound Forge for mac.

Had a great time partying and playing!
Loved the underground style venue. Security was really tight which was a nice surprise.

All the DJs I heard rocked it. Big ups to Sunstorm, Matricks, Deadfunk and Smartyz! Nice to see so much hardcore talent at a single party.

I had a wicked time playing. The DJ booth was nicely set-up which is always nice to see. I was glad to see some of my new productions went down really well - hopefully the set recordings turn out. Speaking of which - can whoever recorded my set send it to me? I'd love to hear it.

Ah weak. I think he uses a minidisc recorder or something so it's not very flexible for him. If DJs are redlining it's pretty much their own fault ;)

Half a pill? more like, 1/10th of a pill, if even. You just need a minuscule scraping.

20$ is a small price to pay considering the damage you can cause to yourself.

yeah, I want knobs that aren't encoders (endless knobs). I hate having to look at a screen to know where I am. I like the limited knobs - midi only has 127 steps anyways.

Yeah, but the ABL2 emulates the "flaws" in the 303's filter design whereas Phoscyon doesn't.

"The filter has been improved so as to include the nonlinear behavior of the original. This give additional 'squelch' in fast sweeps."

Phoscyon sounds fairly realistic (although it's a pain to program to sound like a real 303) until you do certain things like abuse the cutoff, which is what acid is all about :P
