I moved to Toronto after working/living in Busan, South Korea for 5 years (1999 - 2004) and traveling to Thailand and India (2004 - 2005). South Korea was a trip to be sure. I got used to mad cash, whoring out the language and did very little traveling. The best thing about that country, IMHO is the food (ahhhhhhh the food) and the mountains and FIFA WorldCup in 2004. I *heart* Korea. After finishing up teaching at the University I decided to have one last blow out in Thailand. My 1st trip to the land of smiles was in August 1999. Koh Chang and Bangkok ... AND hotboxing a pickup on the way to the air port... a WRONG left turn and some cops and then some PAYING OFF of cops. Being almost arrested and what-not in Bangkok was Xpsyting. The last trip was equally crazy as I was living on Koh Phangan. Haad Rin beach to be sure. Full moon parties, rediculous Thai Island politic, dirt bikes, bongs, Japanese best friends :) fruityloops, DJs and PSYtrance at ZOOMbar. Thailand will hold a very dear place in my heart for all time. My book was conceived in this fairy land. Koh Phangan started to change though. Subtle and frightening changes in the island flora and local "wild" life had me receiving psychic messages from the island i was staying on... "Get out of here... Time to get out". So off I went from the island. Then out of Bangkok 13 hours before the Tsunami hit... I have friends that I will never hear from again ~ still in Thailand 'enspirit' :) peace
OUT of Bangkok and INTO Goa :D That's right Mother India, in the province of Goa. This place will always be my home. The Boxing day morning I woke up... I didnt know that most of the world was reeling from a bohemith tidal wave... YIKES
