What should i say, is that we do it for the good reason: sharing our knowledge and passion with love!
Our step by step methodology is very effective, every students are well-trained and satisfied.

We don't just teach how to press "PLAY" and "SYNCH", but believe it our not in 42h. we dig deeper thant that!
A good coach is the key to access to the next level!

DJING is very complex, now in 2012, we got many element to cover to be a very good one.

THX for every one who support our project, and give a hand by promoting and help our school to grow!

ॐ peace, unity, love & having fun ॐ

I think this is a sign of the times. There was no DJ school before because modern DJing was relatively fresh as an art form; it was like a folk culture, it was in the air, it was happening. Everyone's loft roommate was a decent DJ with real turntables (you had to be decent to compete), so chances are you had a live-in teacher. You learned by getting your hands on the common gear, experimenting, observing the good DJs out in the field, asking questions, and learning hard lessons from making an ass out of yourself in the real world.

It's like jazz. In the 60s, there was no jazz school. You learned it by living in the culture, studying the professionals by ear, going to jam sessions, getting booed off stage, practicing 9 hours a day with tears in your eyes and coming back fit to beat everyone at the cutting competitions.

Now it's taught at Concordia by snobby white intellectuals to slackers who don't care and won't use it.

Wait long enough, they'll also teach DJing at Concordia to whoever wants to complete their credits. Take death metal guitar there too, why not. It'll make you a well-rounded person. ;)

Yes, it sounds bitter, and it's not that I have a problem with this DJ school, for all I know it's pretty good...I just think art gets cheapened when it's academicized. It's like admitting the growth is over, the art is set and it's all rules now.

You probably do lol...most of your friends are djs, even though you consider them to be mere "vinyl slingers" who should put up with your drunken behavior. Dont think people have forgotten your bashing of the dj artform over the years.

Interestingly enough you're also friends with many djs who do it for all the wrong reasons (Fame, drug dealing, following fashion and screwing people over)

I do have a problem with the motivations some may have for becoming one, as stated by our resident superstar wanker:

Why would anyone even give a shit if you had a problem with it or not?

Your whole life consists of complaining. Its not like you're anyone special or a connaisseur, you're just some dude who showed up about a decade ago, bought a few beers and harrasses people at events

In my circles we refer to guys like you as "douchebags".

You're drunk out of your mind most of the time, I dont think you'd be able to tell the difference between a good dj and a bad one lol...

---------------------------------------

Personally I'll continue to do what I LOVE for all the RIGHT REASONS (love of music, making people happy) and obviously I'll continue to get paid for it which is completely normal and the right thing to do, continue to meet girls who enjoy what I do and I'll continue to stay ETHICAL and above all avoid doing cocaine which most djs in this city seem to endulge in.

So my advice to upcoming djs, always stay true to yourself and do it for the right reasons not the wrong ones and when you encounter an asshole like Masa, which does happen, just ignore him, and if he gets testy, just have him thrown out by security. They are there for that afterall ;)

Well, I actually think juggling between 2-3-4-10 tracks, samples and other miscellaneous beats IS an art, takes talent and skills not given to just anyone.

And, just to annoy Blisss, it's also why I personally decided never to hit the decks. Rather support all the great talent that's out there.

Blisss, if all you have to provide to this discussion is poo-slinging at my own self, just... Go fuck yourself, kthx

Real story, in the end I was with my friend Claudine and we ran on front to see him, and when he cut the music we actually had a tear in our eye. Didn't happen to me since the rave movement days, seriously, This was off the hook.
