a few weeks back I posted, asking why some youtube clips start again right off the top any time you try and track forward or backward. I think it was Cutterhead the mastermind who explained why they do that.. some kind of "one shot" play deal when people are paying to play. I can see that.

but why do some other clips, when you try and track, go to some random point like a minute before or after the point you are trying to get to, no matter what?

is there a way to change settings to get around this? very pointless and annoying. if I put a clip of music or video up that is the last thing I would want for people checking it

anyone know?

..at any rate aside from trivial things like this youtube is kicking ass these days... so much insane music and vids that back in the day you would NEVER see or hear unless you had the vinyl or cassette or had it on VHS... a minor complaint but I was just curious why

from what ive observed you can Actually scroll until the MID section of the video ! as if youtube is saying : okay you can scroll a little but if you just want to see a lil part fuck that go somewhere else! maybe they did that so everybody HAS to check the whole video hence bringing more google ad revenue or something like that

Download the video via an .flv encoding website, then play it off the computer.

okay , your talking about the one you watch ONLINE, because a similar yet whole other problem exist on local play (from the hd). as for the online stuff, i would suspect its from cheap encoders, but
i *think* it comes from video size playback , or some overlayed streaming compression.

and it seems that it comes straight from the adobe flash plugin :

could it be that some video have blank encription (ie encoded for nothing and rounds up to the next block ? ) all of that i dunno.

but it really seem like a cache size or video pre-buffer parameter we cant tweek since its a complementary module. ill look it up, i just wanted to share my first idea.

---

but if you look at the futur of video copy protection , ie c2 , ie injected stream encryption : that could be blank checkpoints for the stream password thus creating a "block" or "chunk" of bytes that need to be throuly read before being able to be read as a *valid word* , someking of "buffer underrun protection"

erik : thats a dirty fix, hes asking for the workings of the streaming, why cant he jump ON the frist stream, for streaming purposes , not storage. or in a case where were not talking about storage.

and you dont have to add the .flv, as long as its read by the decoder , and find proper header all players will read the code.

yea i suspect its a bad encoding (oversized packet compared to the player basic settings) , a security feature (buffer underun protection) or a multiple password , password checkpoint for encrypted streams. (this is under deployement and testing for the next holographic video disk and for pay ONCE per view morphing streams tv on sms broadcast)

Yeah but on a slow connection I find everything glitches out. Add to that a slow and virus-encrusted computer and anything java kind of screws up.

now use that with a blank code , the player will probably have performance downgrader PER block due to block cypher.

where there is poor rips too : i had anims it was soo off sych , i think the encoder dude never bother playing it back after he encoded it , or just riped it in pal and badly ported it to ntsc.

LUKE > Yeah but on a slow connection I find everything glitches out. Add to that a slow and virus-encrusted computer and anything java kind of screws up.

yea that , but i have it happenning on fresh installs too, so theirs is a problem with the adobe flash player droping cue to the proper place ON DEMAMD.

(i know its normal due to byte block size and distance from the server, but WhY some and not other, especially old software , even on a fresh install!??)

newer code are more prone to opened streams, and realtime encryption. compare to win xp witch isnt supported mind you since 2009.

wow , i will never hire ppl with thoses fix .

main point why the stream packet need a preread before jumping to position !

and digidev, thats false, because if your to playback the flash stream in vlc you still cant jump to position , it will restart the animation in XP. but will properly run under VISTA 32 or 64 bit

same code ? have you rip em yourself from the tmp directory or have you use your download plugin.

because i remeber the raw /tmp rip doing it and the download helper fixing it.
