okee ive been loving and using VLS for a while and now since a few release its complete bullshit video keeps freezing while audio continues and ive read on vlc forums ppl having the same bug !
so my question is this : whats your favorite : xvid, divx, ogg, mkv, flv, mpg, mov player?

i want something light with good performance i dont care about the screencaption options but i want subtitles support(asian movies)

hey arpism, if your on VISTA , vlc plug ins just right , and you can cue your ripped you tube / you porn videos.

but on xp, the codedoesnt buffer the same way , and has to be streamed . (actually its streamed in both but one does a pre-read and the other not)

vlc is the best , use it to broadcast your mix on the net

Yup. It's fuckin' AMAZING. Seriously, Microsoft have gone and done it. I've got a 1.8g AMD that's clocked down to 1.35 'cause it keeps overheating, 512 megs of ram... Windows 7 runs smoother than a fresh install of XP *WITH* all the fancy graphic stuff running on max, AND it crashes less!

never had any problem with Webteh's BSplayer (and i haven't upgraded it for about 4 years).

for more specific formats (mov, real media, ...) I use Zoom player, coming with the CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack) which is open source.

and i run a windows 2000 not reinstalled since 3 or 4 years, with 1.1 GHz AMD and i recently switched to 512 MB of PC2100 DDRAM :)

ok, it does more than just play movies, but I'd also go and recomend XBMC.. It's not just for the Xbox anymore, there's a Windows, Mac and Linux version.. It plays even MORE formats than VLC with no addon codecs needed (RealMedia and Quicktime).. It's a little large and not just as simple as 'double-click the file and watch', but it's worth checking out to see how totally awesome the software is.

Quicktime is still the best for audio, and generally I like the new updates on the program, but VLC is what you want if you need full control and flexibility. The audio codecs for Quicktime are unparalleled, though. I know, sounds like a mac ad. It's not, a friend tested it out not too long ago and found the quality to be amazing.

Well, I'm asuming that XBMC on the PC works the same as it does on the Xbox.. It's a whole media-organiser/HTPC-style app.. so you launch the program and you can navigate through an audio, video, programs, plugins, etc.. section.. It'll read a file structure no problem, but also you can have it look up all your movies/tv shows/music videos on IMDB (or other apropriate services like AsianDB or TVDB) and get plot synopsis, screenshots/posters to use for the icon..

it keeps a whole database of everything you've got.. So if you've got, say, 400 movies, and you want to find all your movies with Chuck Norris, just open one up, go to the Cast page, click Chuck Norris and it'll pull up a list of all the movies you have that he's in..

eurk i hate quick time video, i even hate quick time alternative, gawd i think i never install real player format players (beside test), i only have the codeck and mplayer to convert it.

it totaly performance downgrade a microsoft machine as soon as you install it, and the player is soo heavy in eye candies for nothing.

i will boycut .ra till i die
