J'ai déjà commencé à scanner mes vieux flyers. :)

* tousse tousse *

Been a Frankie Bones fan since the 90's. He's one of my all time favorite techno producers. Raw Brooklyn techno with a very unique ghetto touch. But he seriously lost his touch since a couple of years tho. I wasnt impressed at all by his last releases. Neither by his last mixes. Too bad.

Why though ? Did he change styles ? Has he gone soft ? Or is he just cramming out commercial crapola ?

ya Frankie has always been my favourite, through thick and thin, he still has the best sound EVER. although ya, i haven't heard good productions lately (or mixes).. but there's some things you have to consider: for one he's always been very diverse.. back in 93-94 i remember he used to play stuff that was called hardcore (back then), but is now known i guess as ghettotek/hardtek or NYC techno, 140 BPM stuff with really distorted bass kicks.. (by 95-96 only something that was 160 BPM was hardcore.. nowadays its more like 180 BPM or something?!!)..but even in 93-94 he was also making cheesy house mixtapes that were all around everywhere.. when he started making CD mixes and getting bigger he kind of fused the two sounds together into a funky sound with hard kicks, and i never heard anything more about him makign house. consider also that in late 80s the music he made was not even 4/4, it was like electrobreaks, breakdancing and poppin music.. so ya, maybe you don't like all the different sides of Bones, but he hasn't necessarily gone soft, or comercial, maybe he's just exploring different sides (which have always been there)

also consider that bones had huge drug problems his whole life, and from what I understand he's clean now, maybe not so psycho, and maybe his interests have changed a bit.. anyhow...

he doesnt release many records, they closed down the record store Sonic Groove.. so i dunno... hopefully he is okay.
