Concordia's radio station, CJLO 1690AM, is having a raffle to help raise funds to support the station. For those who don't know CJLO is a non-commercial radio station dedicated to playing all kinds of underground music that can't be heard on mainstream radio. We're run, almost entirely, by a very dedicated group of volunteers who are truly passionate about music. In order to be able to play as much of it as we can we play very few commercial advertisements, you shouldn't really hear more than 1 or 2 an hour, and as a result a lot of our funding comes from fundraising efforts and donations.

I figured I'd share this with all of you because, if nothing else, you're all people who share a love for underground music and since that's what we're all about I thought some of you might be interested in taking part.

There are over 60 prizes to be won, including (and I apologize for the length of this):

- DA22 Rear track wheel with Formula hub/cog, lockring and Vittoria Zaffiro tire mount from Bikurious (130$ value)
- gift certificates for tattoos from TattoBox Montreal
- gift certificate from Salon Identity (50$ value)
- Sennheiser ear buds (130$ value)
- a bag from PKG, made just for CJLO
- gift subscriptions to UK based DJ Magazine (25$ value)
- gift subscription to Spin Magazine (25$ value)
- Tarot readings with Erica Bridgeman (50$ value)
- CJLO Swag
- movie tickets to Blue Sunshine Psychotronic Film Centre
- tickets to Tokyo Police Club & Two Door Cinema Club @ Club Soda on Jan. 16th 2011
- tickets to Finger Eleven @ Corona on Jan. 21st 2011
- tickets to MUTEK 2011
- passes to Igloofest 2011
- passes to NXNE 2011
- Maple Music prize packs galore, including bonus presents
- Fat Wreck Chords prize packs (plural)
- 12" Sunda K single on vinyl + more
- handpicked selections from Distiller Promotions
- Arts & Crafts prize packs (plural)
- EMI prize packs (plural)
- Epitaph prize packs (plural)
- Domino prize packs (plural)
- Sub Pop prize packs (plural)
- gift certificate for Aux Vivre restaurant
- gift certificate for Le Cagibi (20$ value)
- a special prize from Cafe Rico (a fairtrade, organic, locally roasted coffee house)
+ more things added daily, [ www.cjlo.com ] will have an up-to-date list.

We're selling 1 ticket for 3$, 2 for 5$ or 5 for 10$. For every ticket sold we will donate 1$ to the NDG Food Depot, so you aren't only supporting CJLO.

Winners will be chosen on Jan. 7th at our annual Christmas party being held at Club Lambi, anyone who buys a raffle ticket will be welcome to come.

If you'd be interested in buying any raffle tickets please PM and I can arrange for a time and place to meet you.

Thank you very much!

EFM-7 has been helping out with some of the deco and he loves drawing penis', or other phallic shaped objects and our deco crew leader (Jen_) always likes having an easter egg somewhere in the deco. So long story short, yes, it is a penis, but you might not find it.

Our deco crew has been working really hard for 2 months at this, they've put tons of work into it and it really shows. Wait 'till you see the full pieces at the party, a lot of these will still be surprises to me and if you're not familiar with the deco this crew put together for Here We Go last year you'll be blown away. Hell, even if you are familiar with it you'll be blown away.

UFO [UK]
(UK Hardcore) - Raver Baby, Ufology Records, Hardcore Til I Die

Jason Holloway aka UFO is world renowned for both his production on such labels as Raver Baby and Jelly Baby and his unparalleled energy behind the decks. Since 1995, he has produced many of the top Happy Hardcore tracks of all time such as ‘Deep Inside’, ‘Flying High’ and ‘Castles in the Sky’. The biggest names in hardcore, such as Hixxy, Breeze and Supreme have produced anthem after anthem with UFO. Chances are that you’ve heard multiple UFO tracks played at every hardcore rave you’ve been to. In Ottawa, his tracks “Punk” and “Punk Access” ALWAYS fill the dancefloor. Other huge hits you’ve most likely heard at our events are “Underground”, “New Years Day”, “Hardcore” and “Tears”. Even if you don’t know them by name, most of UFOs tracks are anthems in every sense of the word. Ask anybody present and they will tell you that UFO KILLED it at WEMF ‘07 – we guarantee that on July 26th you will be blown away.

He has released many HUNDRED releases and you can be sure his set in Ottawa on July 26th will be one you won't soon forget. Luna-C has promised us a specially made Nintendo intro for this party – he had so much fun last year that he’s as excited as we are!

Together with his undeniable energy behind the decks, it's no wonder he is one of the most popular hardcore DJs in the USA. No Left Turn mixes on 3 or 4 decks, cutting and layering hardcore in ways you never thought possible. This unique style has earned him appearances in such prominent places as Toronto, Los Angeles, Seattle, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, and Detroit, as well as near weekly appearances in his hometown. His releases have been included on labels all around the world, including Ballistic Bootlegs, Ravin Phantasy, and Draft & Method. Despite his busy DJ and production schedule, he has helped create K12 Studios, which has quickly become the top hardcore production studio on the West Coast. If you’re an Ottawa raver, you’ve probably heard his most popular Happy Hardcore mix (Matchbox Storybook) as well as his AMAZING euro mix (Catch 22). I fail to see a downside, or how anyone can really suffer from that? Like it or not there's a cap on how much most people are willing to pay to go to an event, past that point you start losing people (supply vs. demand). Finding that point, and delivering an event that aims at using all the funds you can safely expect to pull in at whatever that cost is doesn't harm anyone. The event is literally 100% of what it could potentially be, and people attending don't feel like they're being robbed.

If I was aiming to make money those events would have to be the same price, but deliver a lower quality.

Making money means more people have to give us money. I do this because it's something I'm passionate about, as much for the music, as the scene and the people. I have no intentions of attempting to make myself some money while making other people pay me more than they'd otherwise need to. If I walk away broke even and managed to throw an awesome event than I've done what I set out to do.

It's not like this is my source of income or my career goal.

Graham banned him, of course he would think it's justified. That has nothing to do with what my POV is towards Dain-Ja. I also don't think many people (or any) were arguing whether or not it was justified.

He won't link you 'cause no one is laughing at anything. A girl started a thread quoting his first post asking if Dain-Ja had been banned, a few people confirmed it and told her she was late on the news (it happened 2 months ago.) Someone came in and called Host "verdun trash", his GF defended him, a few more people insulted him, and that's basically where the thread stopped.

Johan Gielen was absolutely awful when I saw him in Toronto last year. It was shitty trance, with some kind of weird house bassline, and he just kept hitting the cue button over and over 'cause he thought it sounded cool. Then he stopped the music for a full 5 minutes so he could do a shout out to [ TranceAddict.com ] and a few other people.

Yea, I had a blast at this party. The venue was really nice, deco looked really good and I loved seeing some lighting and lasers around.

The music was awesome! I'm not sure I've ever caught Acid live before but it blew me away. Indica everything I caught of your set from Unlucky Punk on was fantastic. It's a shame that I missed the beginning but I can't wait for that recording to be out. I'll sure to check you out the next time I see you're name on a line-up somewhere.

Perfect opener for Frankie Bones as well, set the right tone for his coming on. I only caught the first hour of his set but it was alot better than I would have expected, originally not knowing any of his music I had a basic set of expectations of someone of that caliber and they were definitely surpassed.

Very impressed by the whole night, thumbs up. Can't wait for the next one.

Psychonaut got their tickets late, they were mailed to a friend in Montreal last monday but I never did follow up to see if the made it... so if you want to check they might be there now. They'll be staying at 20$ in Montreal.

For the drivers : If you are driving a full car (so you and 4 other people) then the driver of the car gets into the party for free. You just need to email us your name and the name of the other occupants so that we can check at the door to make sure everyone is together.

Also if tickets still haven't made it to Psychonaut please email us at either of those email adresses to get us your name and we will put you on a door list for 20$.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Damnit! My friend and I are throwing our first party in Ottawa this same night but we're both HUGE fans of Reid Speed, he in particular. Saw her @ Together as One in Toronto back in February. Is she playing a breaks set or jungle set? Or both? Do not miss your chance to see this girl in action, she rocks the decks like crazy! Best breaks set I have ever heard hands down. Big ups to this!

Bring her back some other date as well! lol

In reference to the will Ottawa people pay full price at the door, there have been tickets on sale at Norml for... probably a month now, or maybe just under that, and Supaman has had tickets on him to cover the other side of the bridge, Gatineau, etc. So there is really no reason why he/she should be showing up without a ticket. I don't see why Doc Savage & Emm would give them a deal, they haven't in the past I don't think.
