Finishing school. Maybe forever! Last day of class = July 14th!

It's the most compelling and engaging movie I've seen in a long time. It just pissed me off 3/4 of the way in when it started to turn into a politically correct morality tale about two lost souls stuck in the seedy underworld of Montreal night life. What did you guys think? The acting and cinematography were awesome.

I do see a MAJOR problem with our political system when 200, 000 citizens are being ignored... now that is indeed very undemocratic!

I just can't believe how unresponsive the government is to public opinion and public pressure. It already feels like a dictatorship sometimes... ie: the police use of force.

Also disturbing is how the powers-that-be (media, government, police) manipulate and entrap citizens (like students) and then try and play themselves up as heroes. Like in Victoriaville when the gov set up a flimsy fence--enticing students to break through the barricade, only to come crashing down on students with undue force and violence.

That's insane.

Hey guys, I was just wondering how many people here were part of any civic/community organizations in MTL, ex: equiterre, institut de nouveau monde, university of the streets cafe, etc. And if so, could you talk to us a bit about it? It'd be really interesting.

I've been reading Robert Putnam's "Bowling Alone" recently, and so... this is how the idea came up for this thread.
