Ashley D fell in love with electronic music after discovering Ottawa’s Atomic Nightclub in April 2001. This inspired her to started collecting records in 2002, and spent the next two years playing records as a hobby, in the privacy of her own home. In March 2004, Ashley D was one of four “basement†DJs competing in an event called Recognition Night held at Buddha Bar, Ottawa, ON. The judges were impressed by Ashley’s track selection and crowd participation. They saw her potential and told her not to give up, practice makes perfect. Not winning the competition sent this young DJ home with a new dream, she wanted to become a DJ and bring the noise of acid techno to the Ottawa/Gatineau area. Miss Ashley D’s big break came in October 2005 when she was invited to play alongside Rowland the Bastard, LAB 4, Dirty Bass and Lou Cypher Project at Embryon 3, a Halloween rave held in Montreal, QC. After destroying the dance floor at her biggest event to date, Ashley D set off to begin producing tracks of her own. In November, she completed her first project in collaboration with S4 entitled “Express Yourselfâ€. Entering 2006, Ashley D started playing a more soulful tech-house style of beats, exploring her passion for music and moving forward as an artist. This rising star currently holds a residency with Girls Night Out (MTL&co.) in Ottawa. She can also be found spinning as a guest DJ at the local after-hours “suNdAzeâ€, at Le Velvet Club in Montreal, QC and last but not least, Ottawa’s new monthly Techno show “In Orbitâ€.
