Employing a secret weapon and 2 specially trained elite force troops, the monolith will rain down a fury of audio terror on the people of Winnipeg. Friday July 2nd, 2004 The Winnipeg Wrath Network in association with Sublight Records and Zod records present America Invades Canada: ‘Turntable as a lethal instrument’ tour Making the first and possibly only Canadian stop of their international tour, acclaimed LA turntablist Baseck and Zod Records owner Destro will be showcasing their unique style of turntablism, blending experimental electronics, idm, downtempo, breakcore and noise on four turntables. The night is also the official release party of Fanny’s new album ‘Strange Planes Spray Cancers On Winnipeg’ on Sublight Records. Featuring: Baseck - (LA – schematic records, addict records) Born August 14th, 1981 in Lancaster, California, Baseck started DJing when he saved up lunch money and sold Nintendo games to buy his first mixer and thrift store turntable at age 13 in 1994. He was soon introduced to scratching and turntable trickery and has been hooked ever since. Baseck has a style made up of breakcore, broken beats, droning atmospheres, and slaughtering noise to create a beautifully fucked collage of sound. Destro - (Milwaukee – zod records) Sam Derickson, aka Destro, can be thought of as the ZOD mastermind. It is his vision that has led to the creation and inevitable evolution and mutation of zod records. He is also an impeccable dj who started off spinning complicated techno and acid and eventually, after working tirelessly, has created a style that blends all types of music he wishes to put onto turntables, regardless of style or genre. ...with locals...
