It was a success based on the fact that they we're able to do it for so long. But no demands we're made or met.

also look at the movement it started around the world, there were over 200 cities that had occupies, Its a shame there were no common demands among them but at least its waking people up to the fact that something has to change and that's its up to u to do it. Also it was a good place to meet other groups of people with similar ideas, maybe next time these bigger groups could organize something more concrete than lets end capitalism.
I'm feeling pensive right now..

No demands were made because by the time every occupier gathered together to sit down and discuss this through, they were too shitfaced to hold a decent conversation ( and those sober enough were too pissed at everyone else ). Then they'd say "fuck it, we'll try this again tomorrow" before crashing in their tents.

the only success i see it made was to properly expose how our system is a facade of the old baron and lords and peon ; feodal system in broad daylight. the only difference we arent allowed shit in the eyes of that fasho run shit train reck.

hopefully it made everybody realise how the premedieval warfare is something to envy , as police back then werent offer better position than anybody and if thigns needed to be solved , mano to mano honor no fucking peper tazer spray you just go with the one without the axe in its forhead.

educated people back then were seen a problem and how the leaders and authority displayed their true nature we see they arent different from the fasho pure co-sanguinin breed that wore crowns back then.

plus their relentlessness of always trying to take rights from everybody is quite fenomenal .
i wonder who hasnt tune in and drop out nowadays , beside charrest and his gay lover harper...

Trying to paint the occupy movement as a bunch of hobos and street-kids is so last month. The fact that just about every progressive thinker in the world has come out and supported the movement doesn't seem to matter much.

I think it is still early to call an outcome on the occupations. The one percent and the cops have said that it was over, but its not up to them to decide. The reasons why the peoples have come together are still in place.

I think if this movement wants to inflict some real damage to the system they oppose, it will be with their wallets. By boycotting certain products and companies and by massively shifting their habits of consumptions, these movements can make a difference.

why it was a success:

after more than a month of fully negative media coverage ( themselves owned by the 1%). even the most innocent rave forum is arguing if after all this was a success.

It made you think ( which unfortunately 99% of people don't really do).

I post on another forum where people are usually more conservative and right-minded ( pro economy, against social changes, etc) and even there they are wondering if this actually was a good thing.

It created controversy and discussion which by itself is an exploit in our fully capitalist system.

The problem is that those who control the wealth/economy will see this as a win, once again helped big-time by government intervention (this time the police and booting ppl out of the occupations, last time from bail-outs and such), and not only will they continue doing what they do, they will feel even more empowered. But, the people have spoken and there are clearly many socio-economic issues that need to be addressed, unfortunately they won't be, 'cause ''the man'' won ...

Analogy: A bully gets surrounded by his victims, tired of his shit, but the school teachers stop the scene before the fight breaks out, and the bully taunts 'nanny-nanny-boo-boo' and becomes worse than ever, knowing the other students are powerless.

But I'm just happy a bunch of people got together to fuck shit up, 'cause chaos, etc. I'm glad that informed people were standing up and speaking out. It's awesome that citizens 'round the world united behind this ...

Unfortunately, the sheer number of people with too many (and many unrelated) agendas caused major problems, and made it impossible to have a common goal.

One thing that happened in Montreal that was disturbing and doomed the fate of the protesters was that apparently they refused the homeless people entry to their site, even asking for police intervention for this ... so wrong. In NYC on the other hand, they worked with the homeless, and they various 'associations'. In fact, NYC has the best chance at any kind of success, it is the root of the whole ordeal after all.

Anyway, it's just good to know that it isn't just a handful of punks that are sick and tired of how things are run, and perhaps now more people are aware of the faults in the system. I don't think anything will change, but it's nice to have have witnessed a global movement that wasn't based on religion or some shit, to see people finally trying to fight economic oppression.

People in positions of power have always hoarded the wealth, don't expect humans to change after thousands of years of sameness.
I'm feeling you up right now..
