You know the people in motorized wheel chairs. When theyre behind you, they tell you to get out of the way. WHen theyre going the opposite way from you, they just go at 20 km/hr in the middle of the sidewalk, and expect you to move out of the way for them...

So I ask...What the fuck is wrong with these people? Its blatently inconsiderate. They know if they hit you, they'll hurt you. They know you only walk 5km/hr. They know that for every one of them theres 10000 pedestrians. And yet theyre so fucking incosniderate.

These people don't do anything for society, probably cost taxpayers a fortune, and don't even have the decency to go at a normal speed? Its such bullshit. WHere are they in such a hurry to get to? I'd vote conservative if they ran on a platform to put speed limits on these wheel chairs or cut off health care for these assholes.

Why are motorized wheel chairs even allowed to go that fast? And why aren't they required to pass a test where people explian to these retards what is an appropriat speed, and what is not. Honestly, these people should use their wheel chairs on the road and let motorists deal with them.
I'm feeling a overhang right now..

What I think is inconsiderate is when the same people in motorized wheelchairs drive in the streets or go on the highway as if they were cars! O_o WTF are they thinking of?
I'm feeling reconstructed right now..

Never had any problem with those people... you could be one of them, you know!
Maybe the ones you had problems with just got fed up with being treated like shit by "normal" people.
Anyways, if you ever get in their place, I guess you'll be pretty happy to have paid for what you'll need and to have others pay it for you too.

Uh... They HAVE to be in the streets. Bikes, motorized vehicles of all sorts and whatever else cannot legally be used on sidewalks. Their rightful place IS in the streets...

Due to a learning disability I often visit the office for students with disabilities, and I noticed that like everyone else, some people in wheelchairs are nice and some are not. Some a super bitter and take everything for granted i.e., are really rude when asking you to move out of the way or simple not bother and almost run you over, while others are kind, joyful and very polite when asking people to make space for their wheelchairs. Also, they have good days and bad days, like the rest of us. I don't think they are any more rude than the next "normal" person...

I didn't know that for the city streets, but I keep my opinion about them going on the highway with their wheelchairs (it happens, I've seen it!). It's just plain dangerous, for them and for other people.

On a highway?! I doubt it... there's a minimal speed limit, even scooters aren't allowed there (I think...?)

Every once in a while, there was this guy in a wheelchair going around gouin and saleberry... guy either had a deathwish or was just too fucked in the head to be let out alone in the streets.... guys would just swerve around one lane to another, one side of the street to another... looked like he was almost passed out with his hand on the gas.

they might wanna keep the guy inside the nut house instead of roaming around the streets for fuck's sake
I'm feeling forward every thurs right now..

All I know is I'm glad to see Gamos loose his PLUR and join the real world like the rest of us. The world isn't just filled with flowers, candies, unicorns, rainbows and hugs.

As for those motorized carts, they should be confined to bike paths but considering there are a shitload of those in my neighborhood one street away from St-Denis and cyclists still ride the wrong way on that, it's clearly never going to happen.

There is a minimum speed limit, but some don't seem to care much. I was in the bus once and an old man in a motorized wheelchair cut the bus and went on the highway! He took the next exit (the bus was following him), but still... I couldn't believe it.

I think they should be allowed on the sidewalks though, because "normal" wheelchairs are. Legally considering them the same way as motorized vehicles make no sense to me.

Not sure if they HAVE to be in the streets... I mean a guy in a motorized wheelchair in the street?

It's quite the grey zone IMO.

And I'm with v2-1, welcome to the real world Gamos, you almost sound like you're a conservative from Calgary :P

Well they HAVE to be able to live their lives independantly as much as possible; without harming others, ok, but them having access to streets is not more dangerous as cyclists or huge trucks, for example.

all that talk made me remember that time when i was 16yo and working in that drugstore who is running a methadone program...

that very nice obese (always wondered wht's up w/ that bc i always perceived junkies as skinny..) lady was coming each day for her dose on her electric chair.. one time she attempted to stand up and reach for the cup and got unbalanced and felt off just suspending herself from the counter with her amrs/// it was already looking ridiculous but it got worse when my boss asked me to help the obese lady getting back on her chair.. she felt on me and i went trapped under 600lbs(at least.)

ok. that was my lil story. there's no lessons to learn from it.. mmm beside saying no to heroin and eating carrots&broccoli.

now you know.
