1999 yo , ipv6 and 3d browsing was the initial goal and they developped the immersa desk to do so in the initial years 98 - 99. doctors use it to do remote micro surgery. then and now.
immersa desk arent needed anymore as you have the same processing power in a computer of the year.
yet thoses are the backbones standards that will make what you claimed to be next step.
imo that future has been hold back for more than a deccade and imo doesnt have the right to be called next step or futurea for that matter . you know...
lol about the vrml thing , you can code it with notepad.exe. yes build an entire 3d world in your browser using notepad , the vrml std alongside html std . i loved it for that. nowadays opengl in assembly is uberfun, still cooked off notepad. |
