 Coolness: 113325 | I work from 8:30-5 everyday and after work I do feel a bit drained, but I think that's cuz I have to wake up at 6:00 every morning. Fridays once 5:00 rolls around I'm ready to go out, don't feel tired at all. |

 Coolness: 146255 | Depends on the job and how you come to deal with it... for some people, being unemployed means doing nothing, partying sometimes but slacking off and getting sucked into the depression cycle: I'm tired of doing nothing, I'm do nothing 'cause I'm tired, I'd like to do something but I'm too tired, I can't even think right because I'm tired and bored of doing nothing, which tires me even more, etc.
For other people (far less common, in my experience), being unemployed lets them free to do just whatever they wanna do, and they get to profit from this situation as much as they can: they do stuff they like, are constructive, meet people, and don't get tired nor bored! It's the same at work: some people see their job as a tiresome obligation, and if it doesn't require much brains nor muscles, they can tend to get into the same depression cycle as some bored unemployed people. But other people, not necessarily workaholics, manage to see what their job can bring them in terms of stamina balance, brains/muscles activity, healthy balance for mind/body, regular hours for sleep/meals/spare time, social interaction, etc. This state of mind, from what I've seen, is much more widespread in Montreal than in France :) |

 Coolness: 45975 | It can be draining if your work is a routine. It's not as energy draining as if you wake up really late, stay at home doing nothing productive from procrastination. We need emotional energy, which we get by doing different things each day. Take another street to your way back home from work/school for example. |

when you love what you do you are "working". when you are alienated, in other words; when the objectification of your consciousness sucks, you are "laboring". unfortunatly in our status quo many people don't have the privileges to "work" but have to "labor". maybe that's the problem of your friend..? |

 Coolness: 93425 | Im fucking exhausted after a hard day at school, especailly around exam time. But other days, Im good to go out after studying for 8 hours or so. It depends how much effort I exert over the time I'm studying.
In other words, a big part of it is how intense your work session is. If you work a cushy job where you can work at a leisurly pace, enjoy your job, and maybe have 6 hours of work which you extend to 8 by taking youtube breaks and msn conversations...then no, work isnt tiring. If you work your ass off - either mentally or phsyically for 8 or 9 hours a day, you're going to get tired. Think about people who do manual labor, a teacher who teaches a group of 10 year old boys with ADD, professionals who work in finance, or the girl who works at the super busy mcdonalds on yonge street. Theyre probably so exhausted at the end of the day. Now compare that to the receptionist at the dentists office, or the university professor...they can probably run a marathon at the end of each day. How tired works make you is a function of: 1) how stimulating or rewarding you find the work, 2) how much you enjoy it 3) how many hours you work 4) your work environment 5) and how intensely you work over those hours. Believe it or not, if you were to add supply and demand for your specific human capital and abilities, you get the factors that determine wages in a capitalist society :P |

It also varys from a person to another. A person will be more tired for the same work than another person. Nobody respond to stres or physical exhaustion the same way. |
