ok so.. bare with me..
i am curious as to what has become of the rave scene?
and i would like to question the people who still engage in it, that being any of you who attend raves...so here it goes...
in your opinion have raves become a place for young people to take drugs in a enclosed and supportive enviroment with friends and no real threat of being discovered by parents, police and society in general? or do the traditional values, that being PLUR among others, live on? Please be honest and detailed in your answer as i am extremely curious in what any of you have to say..

THE RAVE IS OVER....

LONG OVER.

those that are left are delusional or just stickin' around cuz they dig the tunes or want a good laugh.

good old fashion organised raves don't happen anymore and if they do there in'st enough ppl for it get off the hook, which means that there is no buzz and the next one will have even less ppl.
I'm feeling warm unicorn jizz right now..

It's a little bit of both. If you're not raving for the music, why the fuck are you raving IMO.
I'm feeling tgif, again! right now..

Not true, as long as there is someone who goes to hyperspace because of a tune, who reaches the point where he is lost in music, raves are not dead.
I'm feeling tentacles inside me right now..

It was fun the first, the very first time, Rave was young and virginal, all innocent and sweet.
all the new people who 'rave' after, are fucking in the the cums we, the first timer, and subsequently, every generation, left behind.

I dunno man.. I think the trick is finding raves that aren't over-advertied and super-commercial. Granted I've only been going to parties since august 2002, but the best party that I've been to so far was completely (and literally) underground and had like 50 people tops.. Leaving the place felt like waking up from a dream. I never got that at any party before, no matter how much I was pilled up or how much I loved the music/djs.
I'm feeling fat and sassy right now..

To answer your question, yes raves still happen. Some jaded people will tell you that it's dead, just don't listen to them. Sure, raves aren't as big and popular as they used to be, but you don't need 1000 people to have a good vibe.

As for the "drugs vs plur" question, I think it all depends. Some people are in it for the drugs, some for the music, and some for the people. Any scene must show at least some form of peace, love, unity and respect in order to survive. Not a lot of people say "plur" anymore, since the word did lose it's meaning over the years, but the values are still there, though granted, not as strong as it used to be.

As for the drugs, It all depends on the party, some ravers are in it to get high, but I think most people go to parties because they enjoy the vibe and the music. For someone who's just looking for a way to get high, afterhours are more easily accessible.
I'm feeling [insert mom joke] right now..

Duuudes, you obviously don't know what it's all about! It's up to you to make your own party! When I go somewhere, there can be 5 people in total, but I will turn it into a party because of my enthusiasm and my good vibes! Don't count on others to have fun!

If you regularly attend parties, you make the party you go to.
The people you surround yourself with, the way you interact with people, the drugs you take, the way you dance (haha).

If the rave is over to you, why the fuck do you attend?
If you say the rave is dead, why do you keep beating a dead horse?

The smallest thing can make someones night...

I remember a few times when bumping into someone and having them say sorry could cheer somebody up. (or was that groove?)

Asking someone sitting in a corner or alone if they are alright, if they had taken drugs, if they like the music...keeping an eye out for other ravers. These will all increase your quality of partying, by making a good rolemodel. Surround yourself with people who are having fun, instead of people who are dissing the dj because his beat match had phasing in the 16th bar. Simply put, make an effort to enjoy yourself at a rave, and you will enjoy yourself.
I'm feeling phuk'n gruuvin right now..

Aww I remember that feeling... Ive been in the rave scene for over two yrs, which isnt that long, but I do see a now and then difference. I dont think raves are dead but its harder to find those "magical, plur" ones. I think the vibe has kinda changed but I agree that we shouldnt depend on others to create our party...

Rave on! ;)

yeah it's only been about 4 years for me, but it's the first time that I'd ever felt that, literally walking out of the party and wondering if I was waking up or going to wake up at any moment because the whole thing was so amazingly surreal and perfect.

i think that electronique music and everything who go with it haven't been undurstood yet by the masses of america in general. in europe it's like going to a club or a rock concert. it's a kind of music like an other. and more people seem prospere and living from their art. i think it's very different here in america.

i attend my first party a long time ago and i never "live" my life trought party.
i really see that like going to the movies or museum.

but for answer your question, i think that for alot of people who live their life trought the party, it's there that they gonna live their first experience for sure. i know people in some other scene country that when i talk about candy raver, they don't even know what i'm talked about!? and they know what's hhc.
it's a culture question maybe..

i also don't think that a teen gonna do more drugs or having more sex attending a rave party or a punk show..it's up to them. it's an individual choice. personaly i never suffer any pair pressure for drugs or anything in rave.
maybe because i choose to hang out with the good people.

and anyway i know drugs addict and people who die from drugs in all kind of scene..
:( so i don't think it's linked.

i think that what happen to an individual between 0-6 years old
and his past experiences will more determinate his behavior later.
not really where he/she hang out... or what type of music he's listening to.

ok...i think i'm gonna stop here it's started to be freudian.
I'm feeling ok right now..

maybe it come down to homegrown culture... which was the goal of raves in my experience atleast, the attempt to create something cult-classic...which is not easy to do. i think the real reason raves died (if we can say that) has to do with money...it's to expensive to throw parties now, everything conspires against the up and comming promoter, the locations used to be really cheap now $1000 for two reasonably sized rooms is considered a steal, the DJs all want to get paid even if it's just $50-$100 it adds up, strangely enough they don't ever seem to draw the people to justify it...and last are the party goers everybody wants to get in for free because they know someone...

in the end it's the promoters who pay for everyone to have a good time.
I'm feeling surly right now..

plur! :P
