PRISON TATTOOS AND FOOD BANKS
Funding programs - Re: "Tattoo parlours now a federal prison perk," Nov. 11.
The federal government is funding a $700,000 project to establish
tattoo parlours in their prisons, and a local businessman is
subsidizing veterans who are using a local food bank.
I appreciate that the parlours are being established in an effort to
curb the spread of HIV and hepatitis, but I just can't get my head
around the government's priorities.
Three-quarters of a million dollars to a group that has preyed upon
society, while the ladies and gentlemen who have protected its
freedom rely on the kindness of strangers.
