BAN DRUGS IN PRISON

I have a great way to curb HIV and Hepatitis C in prison, and it does
not involve needle exchanges and tattoo parlors (Gazette, Nov. 11,
"Prisons open tattoo parlours"). It does involve stopping the flow of
drugs into prisons that now occurs to such a degree that we have
prisoners injecting drugs while in custody.

Am I the only person who thinks this is rather odd? Put the money
into security and drug rehab. There should be no drugs in a prison,
period. As for tattoos, if they're illegal, then there should be none
of them, either. If it's decided that inmates can have them, then
they can pay the going rate for them like every one.

Why not get those who are bringing in the drugs to bring in some cash
for their friends' tattoos? It's time to deal with the real issue,
which is illegal activities in our prisons.
