THE OLD SCHOOL/ ST. CATHERINES, ON

I've been in the scene since early 1997 and I must say it has changed very much! The parties in those days were really underground. Our old spot in Ontario was an old bank that we renovated and turned into a complete fun house. No one could hear us. 2 music rooms, 6 lounge rooms, and 3 floors of total trance bliss! We put effort into our parties. Back in these days the drug dealers would wear white gloves. This is how you could tell who they were. This is how "liquid" gloves were born. (You know those gloves that are white that the dancers used to wear when doing liquid pop) The only way you could inherit these gloves was to battle someone that had them. If you won, you took the gloves and could sport them when you danced! It sounds silly but this is how it happened. However this trend never went mainstream in Canada until some friends of mine started making videos instructing how to dance. They soon became viral and the trend spread and they made a lot of money quick coming home from raves and making instructional videos. Better know today as the "LPC" or Liquid Pop Collective. However I think most of you wouldn't know what I'm talking about as most dancers stopped wearing "gloves" around 2004.

The rave scene in Canada started in ONTARIO as far as I know in 1989 with the OM festival. As documented by LESTOR ALFONSO in the film 12 it discusses this briefly.

Does anyone have any old school stories about the Quebec scene? I'd love to hear them:)

Hey guys, so I will be organizing a food drive at DRUG MUSIC on December 25th. Please bring 1 or more non-perishable food donation to the party. I will be collecting them and bringing them to a food kitchen for the homeless! If everyone donates 1 item, we will have a ton of food for the people that need it! Thanks guys and hope to see you there!

I'm all for spirituality, but I get uncomfy when it's beeing fed to the masses.
But I guess that's my own little hermetic delusions. It seems that a lot of people tend to underestimate the empowerement introspection brings, and that is usually a perfect recipe for creating super-douchebags. ;)

As above, so below.

Cheers.

I totally agree with you! Religion is an opiate for the masses! I am also all about spirituality, but not so much for relgion in general. Just my two cents;)

? NOt too sure what you meant by that. Let me go into more detail as I'm sure you are "unassumed" to what I'm talking about in general. That was a nice metaphore thow! I'd agree with you, but this has nothing to do with unassumed pseudo spiritual oriented stuff.

A healing circle: A group of people gather at the new moon or as a symbol of new beguinings, A group gathers and we usually make a talking stick. The one with the stick is the one whom talks. We have 4 rounds of verbal excersice: the first round you pass around the stick and talk a bit about yourself, the second round you talk about what your thankful for. The third round you talk about your relationships. the fourth round you talk about the things you would like to change before the next ew moon. Also we burn sage beforehand for purification and throw pine into the fire after we speak. These circles are very theraputic and a great experience! Also we usually follow up with a mediation and leave happy campers!:) It can be as spiritual or as non spiritual as you would like it to be! Usually we have mostly womens circles as most men don't seem to jive to this sort of thing as much!lol

Reiki Share: is the usage of reiki as a group rather than individuals to help eachother learn and grow, to make eachother stronger and open oneself..I dont see that as a pseudo spiritual oriented thing at all. Take it as you like thow!

Peace!<3

I actually don't have a good source to explain them except in my own words:

A reiki share is a group of reiki practitioners getting together to work with one another and share information helping eachother learn. Also non- practioning people would be welcome to pick up a thing or too of course:)

A healing circle is close to the same thing, but diferent!lol. You can get creative wilth this one how it is to be done. Usually we have a mens circle and a womens circle. WIth a fire in the middle if possible. Also usually we like to host these on the new moon, as its a remnewal circle....generally its a verbal excersise followed by energy work, and some burning of sages and pine and some meditation. Quite traditional where I'm from:) ALso usually snacks and refreshments beforehand to get to meet eachother a bit. All are welcome! Actually for sure there will be a few of these circles going on this summer! They are awesome!

Hello!

I infact mostly do use my own pictures. I have a few pics of other dreads to show different styles, as I rarely take pictures anymore because I need a new camera! This picture just shows the leopard print dreads, which infact I make mine much nicer. I would not post pictures of something I could not accomplish as that would be false advertising! I will post many pictures once I get a new camera<3

Also, on the whole discussion of fake dreads apposed to real ones... Everyone is different<3 One persons ideal is different to the next! "If everybody looked the same, we'de get tired of looking at eachother!" :)

It's a well-known website for ideas and how to do hair etc, I make dreads myself, I gained information there when i was first starting out ;).

One of the images stuck out like a sore thumb, i remember that one.

[ quinnster.fqdn.net ]

Here's the picture in question. That's been there for almost a decade.

If you make dreads, I fully support you! it can be quite fun! It's something i'm very passionate about, but use your own pics. or state very very clearly this is a example of what I can do. They say imitation is the highest form of flattery so make be orignal have your own style, and the flattery will come in EN MASSE.

Thanks!

Hello and thank you for your interest:)
Price varies depending on length/style and how many dreads you would like. Generally I charge $225- $250 inclusive for a very full head of long extensions mid back or longer any style and including hair and instalment. It is cheaper for shorter lengths or not so many dreads. (like if you had an undercut or would prefer not so much weight on your head)

I charge $25/hr to re-instal or take out dreadlock extenions.
For just extensions: price also varies according to length but for long single ended extensions I charge $2.25 each or for Double ended I charge $3.50 each. All styles are included in price(transitions/swirled/uv colors etc):)
