I now have full access to [ rave.ca ] and it is my plan to relaunch it this year to the new scenes in Montreal and in the rest of the country. To do this, I am building a team of people interested in giving some of their time and effort to manage our rave community's portal. [ rave.ca ] and [ ravewave.com ] is one of the oldest and biggest remaining portal aimed at rave communities and you can help make it live on! If interested, please send me a private message and we can discuss your skills and interests that would help make the site live again stronger than it ever was :D We need help from anyone including: - Web Developers - Web Designers - Server admins - Forum/Communities Moderators - Calendar Moderators - Calendar Posters (Gathers nightlife events and post the calendar) - Promoters (to promote the site at events, online, etc...) - etc... |

| Coolness: 88975 | I first heard Happy Hardcore 10 years ago and it completely changed me! The people I've met through the scene throughout the years are amazing. At some point I decided to help make it bigger and I started throwing HHC parties for a while and then I stopped for life reasons. Now, 3 years later, I'm back and I'm extremely proud of all the support the Montreal rave scene is giving me to get Happy Hardcore going again here! Everyone should get to listen to Happy Hardcore! | Coolness: 88975 | The music for one is almost entirely different. You will find much less mainstream music in underground events. Which brings me to my next point.. People drawn to raves (and keep coming back) usually have a different view on music and are much more open minded to meet new people and share thoughts. You will also find a lot of people who do not identify with "society" for a bunch of different reasons. If you go to a party, you are guaranteed to find new potential friends throughout the night. Drugs do play a part in this for some people but in my experience, the ones who stay usually do because of the music and the experiences they get from socializing with others. At the risk of sounding super cheesy, the underground scene is like a huge clan or family (depending on how you view things). As far as free parties are concerned, there has been surge of these events in the past few years. They happen practically every weekends during the summer. I honestly don't know whether they are more popular in Europe or America but they sure are very present in Montreal. Finally, I strongly recommend you come over to at least one event for your research so that you can see for yourself. Who knows, you might like it a lot :). PM me if you're interested |

I suppose that some people are taking it to an other level, celebrating a spiritual state of mind .. but I am not going to elaborate to much on that one .. What is the difference between raves and clubs, what are the mains reasons that make you go to raves? -------- In a nutshell, raves a more liberal (free minded).. Clubs on the other hand are perceived as more conservatives (within the scene) and often considered as more glamorous.. (Rest assure that look's can be rather deceiving on this matter.. Speaking from experience I've seen more sad sight in clubs then in raves. ) Hope this helps ! I'm totally with you on this! Tangerine, it seems you have a bit of an understanding of the mentality as well. You said in your earlier message "...than ask questions to douches who go to Bal en blanc for example...". Although I appreciate events like the Bal en Blanc, the mentality there is much different. In the scene people tend to have more of an open mind and are just there to have fun. And at the end of the day, I have rarely witnessed a bad experience at a rave... On the other hand, I have seen some really bad shit go down in bars/clubs/afterhours. Feel free to ask some more if you need to :) |
