All that for schools, clinics, wells and agriculture?

Seems a little harsh...

For fun, perhaps?

That's my personnal experience on the terrain that I was talking about, answering a specific question. Your counting 10 years of war, the afghan war, the Iraq war and the 9/11 attacks all at once

Wait, maybe I should stop that and call artillery on villages. Yeah! Why not spice up these numbers a little bit?

Yes, it's war. It's ugly, people suffer. Exept reading these statistics, are you doing something about it? Does it change something in your daily routine?

From the realities I saw on the ground, it's much more than that. We're making hundreds of development projects like building schools, clinics(sadly, only fews), wells, irragation projects, helping with agriculture, ect and also gouvernance and security projects(building a police station to increase the security of a village). Dont forget that this is a guerilla type war, you need to win the hearths and minds of the population in order to win. fighting villagers and afghan tribemen wont make any goods, on the contrary. So all this will(we hope) make the country more stable and increase the level of life of the population, wich was very low during the taliban reign.

But that is not always successfull, some elders are working with the taliban, playing a game with us. Other times, the afghan minister of education is not motivated to pay a proper salary to the teachers...making them quit the job. Right now we working really really hard, thinking, improvising to keep these projects open. I know im doing the right thing and all this work is not futile, because when I talk to the villagers during patrols, they want schools, getting an education for their kids making their lifes better. They're tired of this, it's been 40 years of war non-stop for them.

hahaha, well said! I guess STRIK_IX will be a good dictator...

No, you are wrong mister Strik. You base your arguments on dogmatism, prejudices, stereotypes and lets not talk about your lack of knowledge in the matter (AKA canadian military) which lead you even more in the wrong way. You dont think, you dont ratiocinate, you only see the point of view you want to see, without checking both sides of the medal. Like dzzz said, you are using the same `Thinking` system of the ones you hate the most and I agree with that observation.

For your info, we dont have a 5% bonus if we vote conservative. I dont give a shit about my paycheck, it's not the reason I joined and I dont care who sign it. Nothing of this have influence in my life or my decisions. It's like the story with the FTQ, some people thought that they were voting for the Bloc only, all bias about the paycheck...election proved this statement wrong(duh).

Yes, we will never know what really happened until it's declassified, for that point I agree with you.

You need to put yourself in context, that happened 10 years ago, security were not so tight for NORAD. Do you think these guys were ready to shoot an airplane full of civilian under populated area? The processus of decision was slow and the events happened so fast, when they clicked about what was going on, it was too late.

Here's a thing(im surprised that nobody thought about before) NORAD is a US-CANADA defence partnership. Yes, surprisingly all US fighter planes in the area were in an exercise in the south of the USA (no canadian fighters participated as I know but I can be wrong) why no canadian CF-18s were able to help? We have 4 CF-18s parked in Mirabel but im not sure if they are/were operational and we have also Bagotville airbase.

Following the statement above, I heard from my ex-regiment commander, a Lt-colonel, that we in fact intercepted an Hi-Jacked airplane but all the story about that airplane was silenced. Im sure he was not lying but this can be a false rumor, you know, we have tons of them here.

Returning to the subject: Why Al-Qaida didnt said it was bullshit if he still alive or died before. Oh wait, maybe it's true.

Why Al Qaida dont say it's all BS if Bin Laden is not dead or died from a illness months ago? Why they dont show us a video like they usually do?

Yes it's a bit odd that no photos was taken and that they threw his body in the ocean.

More to follow, got to go...

HHmmm, Mister Anti-war...

The intervention was voted at the UN, the world was tired to see Kadafi murder his own people. I dont see your point with your new world order hegemony B.S theory. By the way, the majority of this people wanted an intervention.

Were just helping the people of Libya gain their freedom by themself and protecting the population from Kadafi's army. No troops will be send, no occupation. When Kadafi's ass will be kicked once and for all, only the people of Libya will decide what they want as a nation.

You can cry, protest, complain as loud as you want...that wont change nothing.
