The first rule about organizing an event: book/secure your venue before anything else....
Because the venue itself will play a major part of the rest of the planning...

some venue may ask for permits/insurance/security guards/etc...
Some will have their own sound system...
Some will have their own bar and refrain you from selling your own stuff...
Some will ask for a % of the door ticket sale...
Some will need to be cleaned/modified to follow the city's rules..(if you playing the legit game)

Any of those details can make your bill go up by a lot, and can change your planning/needs drastically...

and btw, 8500$ is not that much if you want to make a quality event...

Also, don't go on your event's thread asking for help, it make you look unprofessional...(even though I don't think it matter much at this point)

all I can say is: good luck...

your event is nothing new, refreshing, or even interesting...(no offense to the djs)
there has been dozens of other event with the same line-up/concept, for 1/4 the price of yours...

tell me, what are you offering that is so special?
how is your event any different than all of the others?

the only thing you are bringing seems to be an overpriced event, with the argument that by making it expensive, it wont attract cracked out people...

for that price, and the product you are offering, my guess is that it wont attract anyone...

you might want to wake up from your little nublet promoter's dream, and get your things straight...

you are nothing new, you are not the savior of the scene, your concept has been done to death, and never made it past the 1st event....

What you are offering as a promoter is a product, and in any kind of business, the image/impression of your product will be a big part of your success or failure.

Now all I see, is a non-sense overpriced event, thrown by a kid who seems to have played with lucy way too much...and has no idea what he is doing.

I would not invest in that...

I think your best bet is to get Noah to delete this thread, sit down, get your act together
And come back with a solid concept/event.

or else I feel that the only thing that will come out of this will be a rave vs afterhours 2.0...

J'avait deja entendu cette histoire!

mon tour:

Une femme random qui loue un kit de micro wireless...
elle rapelle plus tard:

Mme: Il marche pas ton micro!!
clerk: Comment ca y marche pas?
Mme: Bin ca sonne pas! On entend rien!
clerk: Vous ete sur que c'est bien branché dans votre kit de son???
Mme: Quel kit de son? de quoi tu parle?
clerk:???
Mme: Celine quand elle chante sur le stage, elle a juste son micro pis on l'entend partout elle!
/facepalm

I could probably write a book about all the stupid things that happened to me while working in retail...
sometimes customers are so stupid, you wonder how they got that far in life...

oli, the price is right..
I have been selling gear for a living for the past 2.5 years..
just check the market...
on ebay they rarely go for under 800$ not including shipping...
and on ebay you cant try the synth before you buy it...

make sure you know what you are talking about when trying to bitch about prices...
or else it just make you look stupid...

they are good for micro grow, where space/heat is really an issue....

but for a real grow..forget it!

just check the lumens output:3200Lm
a real 400watt produce about 50000 60000lm
