As some one who works in a scene that is in a very conservative city where 'Rave' is consider one of /those/ four letter words I wouldn't let it worry you too much.
The only that needs to be done to avoid the negative stigma that may be caused is for the promoters to tighten up their security a bit and keep a closer eye on patrons.
We ran into some serious trouble a few years back involving a novice promoter letting kids that were way too young to be at parties into them (a rave is no place for an unsupervised 10 yr old). Needless to say a kid got a hold of something they shouldn't have and the parents caused a large up roar. The promoter responsible failed and went out of business. However the other promoters int he scene banded together and actually turned the bad press into an opportunity by holding a 'rave' event that was open to the public. Surprisingly there were a lot of 'rave parents' and media in attendance, all of whom realized that raves weren't the devil and in our city it was safer for an underaged person to attend an all ages rave than go to an all ages nightclub. Since then they've been trying to shut down the all ages night clubs and leaving raves alone...then again bad things actually happen at the night clubs.

Moral: There will always be forces working against alternative/underground cultures and there will always be idiots looking to ruin every one's fun simply because said idiot does not understand why we find it fun.

Also the movie will most likely fail if it's relying solely on 'kiddie porn' to make it's point...most people find that sort of exploitation more offensive than the drugs and the movies actual point.

Also if you could find a strong promoter that could actually relate and discuss matters with the public that would help greatly...though there seems to be a horrid lack of promoters for some reason :( :( :(

I am going to be staying in Granby Quebec and have been trying desperately to contact any sort of promoter in the Montreal area...which is a task that seems to need super hero like skills.
I have emailed just about every one I could find (in both google translated French as well as English), and while in the states people will at least have the social graces to tell you 'No'
IS there something I'm doing wrong here? Because I'd honestly rather be given a negative answer and have the promoter tell me they hate my music...at least then it'd be feedback.
I'm a nationally touring Dj, and normally setting up a booking is as simple as contacting the promoter and letting them know I am in the area. I figured since I was going to be there (with travel already paid and lodging arranged) I could do a set or so for my new friends and fans in the area. The patrons of the local alternative/gothic scene has received me wonderfully, your city really does have a great alternative scene.

So what is the key to making contact?
I've worked with some of the biggest names in the international EDM industry and I honestly don't understand why icons like Infected Mushroom, Paul Van Dyke, Arman Van Burren, Perish, Keoki, and etc communicate with me on a personal basis yet I can't make a single bit of headway with any one no matter what I try.
Is everything I've been told true and promoters (the patrons as I've said have been unbelievably helpful, understanding, and sweet) here are treating me in this manner because I am from the USA? Because I've spent weeks defending against that very same stereotype...and really don't want to think that other Electronic scenes are really that discriminatory or rude. My family has lived in Canada since before either country formally existed. Plus where I am born has utterly no baring on my merit as a performer.

Sorry this turned into a bit of a rant...
This is unbelievably frustrating.

Negate the dislike of Americans comment
Was something I had a large amount of people tell me would be a VERY big issue.
I've actually found out that a lot of it was due to them not regularly checking their social networking pages & email. The ones I have finally been able to reach have been very nice & professional :)

I'm sure you can all understand a dislike for stereotypes...especially given that documentary or whatever I've been hearing about.

my boyfriend just got the new DROID phone...
he's turned into a complete FAG!
I'd actually think the phone was cool and useful if he didn't sit around making it fire off gun apps...like that's not even interesting...

Here's another funny one
make up streaked from blood wrestling...and some big hair...doing a set to close out BloodFeast (which was an epic party)
But yeah, some times I wonder if there's something with my face...it just does whatever it wants...

I just laugh looking at myself in this one!!!

I'll be visiting Granby and Montreal this month and would love a change to test out my sets on a new group of people.
I spin Psychedelic Goth, a style which I have pioneered myself
