Good morning!!
Am up bright and early...like since 5am :(
For the Party Monster fans James St. James did release another book about two years back called 'Freak Show' <- I'll double check the title. And if you thin his writing style is fun, you should meet him in person. I also have some left over autographed (signed by James and Keoki) posters and pics from the 07 Party Monster show I did, so if any one on here is a HUGE fan of the movie, let me know and I'll see if I can dig you up treat :)

Yes...it actually shocked me a bit. When we did BloodFeast kids from all over the country that had attended my various bookings or downloaded my mix/met me through forums/social networking sites traveled to Cleveland Ohio for the event. Now I'm not claiming any massive personal audience (one can hope though for the future)...but they are unbelievably devoted and a lot of fun (and I can budget my events based on my personal draw). I attribute a lot of it to the decline of Gothic clubs in this country and that I gear my music and events towards the graver culture giving a lot of displaced goths a comfortable home that offers them a mix of dance music rather than the straight industrial most clubs here have become. It also appeals to the veteran Rave crowd that appreciates the darker styles. Plus unlike a lot of performers, myself and my crew place a lot of importance on reaching out to other areas and scenes as well as keeping up with our regular attendees. It's a lot of work and I answer 100+ messages a day, but in the end it's well worth it. A lot of our fans have become our friends as well.

In Pittsburgh where I live we lost an alternative night that ran for 13 years. It was 'gothic' in nature but incorporated other EDM styles as well and was the place to go for any one in alternative culture. This left a lot of people with out anything to do on their Saturdays...so after the club closed in December of 08 my crew and I got to work on trying to rebuild a scene. Something combining Goth Culture, Club Kid Culture, and full out performances to go with the music/Dj sets.

PS - here people at least claim they care about the headliners...even if they don't have a clue who hey are. It's kind of funny.
Most headliners aren't worth the $$ you have to spend on them either, a few of them are worth far more.
When I do an event I keep my performance cost low, which keeps tickets low and helps promoters...as I said I do this because I love it. A lot of my events I are also to help out new promoters. One I did in South Carolina I walked the promoter through the entire process. The show was awesome (a couple cars full of kids drove up to Cleveland for BloodFeast) and they're looking to have me back for New Years :) If ind that the scene in the US is very difficult on new promoters, I had to fight for everything I did in my first year...I feel that even if the person my be potential competition in the future, I'd rather help them get started and have the later challenge than let them fail due to lack of knowledge...scenes need new blood and new ideas.

Thanks. It actually means a lot since you originally criticized me. I know your opinion is honest if you get what I mean.
HelloMoto is actually by Eskimo which is a Psy Trance performer :) The kid started out at 15yrs old and is rather well known. Personally I think the song is fun and love plating it, really gets the crowd going. Since you called it Emo...I'm guessing it was the Placebo: Meds remix - which is also something very popular with a lot of my US audience.
Do you have any advice on EDM/EBM artists that fit with my style that are popular in Montreal?? Or even some artists I might not have run into yet, I'm always trying to broaden my horizons and as you can tell I love foreign music as compared to US released.
The mix was the best I could do the compress everything I spin into an hour. I try to make my sets very diverse, especially since I work heavily in both Goth and Rave cultures as well as a few mainstream events.

Also when you get to know me you'll realize that a lot of the 'Diva' attitude is more of a joke than anything. I have a bit of an odd sense of humor

and I expect caviar to go with my red carpet, thank you very much

Yeah. Totally gonna work.

Well it hasn't done well on short notice, however I'm discussing several future possibilities. I guess being a DJ and wanting to perform is wrong by our standards...?

So did you actually listen to my mix...or you just hopped on here to talk shit cause...umm..??
Oh wait we have people like you where I'm from too...the kind that just show up to try and piss all over everything. Well I know I'm doing something right if there's already 'haters' crawling out from under their rocks.
Here...why not educate yourselves...that way when you continue to talk shit it might matter. There's a ton of content on my profile, including a list of almost every event I have been involved with since June 2007. Most of them I helped put together and finance. I may only have been in the EDM scene for a little over 2 years but I've certainly done my fair share to help, support, and advance it.
I don't expect any of you to know who I am...that's why I'm on here talking to people and introducing myself. Makes sense...doesn't it?
Normally Djs that make a name for themselves do it by contacting promoters and the local scene as well as providing an idea of their work history. I mean it's either that or porn...and...well...that's just gross. Personally I'd rather talk about myself for pages than screw people to get ahead...

1) wut city?

Pittsburgh and there was a big fiasco in the 90s.

2) How young is too young? 14 isnt too young, or there would be no rave scene. And some 13 y/o ive me are pretty cool. Whose to say what age is too young. Its not my place, or your place, or the promoters place. If a 10 y.o. wants to dance all night and chill with friends, who are you to tell him not to. This is how the government in your bedroom society begins. What a 10 y/o chooses to do with his time is between him and his parents. And no offense, but if you don't know ur 10 y/o is at a rave doing drugs...well thats not the first parenting mistake youve made.

lol...you're one of those people that thinks the US doesn't have trees...aren't you? :P

The first parenting mistake is to let a 10 year old child go to a place and do drugs. That's unbelievably irresponsible. I mean really...being 27 I don't want to be partying around little children. That's creepy...Like pedophile creepy. 14 years old is still pretty creepy as it is...I don't know about you but I'm not up for a day trip to the Neverland Ranch.
Since I throw parties...I am the person that gets to say whether or not I choose to be held responsible for he lives of children. And morals as side it would be a retarded business decision for me to allow that.
And 10 years old is certainly too young to be ingesting substances like E, especially when you take into account all the additives in the pills. Not to mention that many substances, even commonly prescribed psych meds, can have very damaging effects on the development of a child's mind and body...I've worked with handicapped children that were a product of drug use at an early age.

When he was in Cleveland he was very unpleasant...Maybe the guy was having an off night....
His tour staff actually apologized to me for his behavior towards my guests. I remember this little 18-20 year old sweet heart of a boi that asked for his autograph (the kid was a major fan and was so excited for the show) and Deadmou5 snapped at the kid and told him to get out of his face. Then this piece of shit in a cheap suit started pushing the kid away. I pulled the poor boi up into VIP to try and cheer him up...needless to say he's not a Deadnau5 fan anymore and I still have that shirt as a reminder of what not to be. I don't care who you are, you have to make time for your fans and treat them with respect...they're the ones hat support you.

That event is the only impression I have of him

LOL...Deadmau5 is certainly not Keoki. I love Keoki...Deadmau5 left an awful impression the last time I saw him. Guy's a prick.

As for people being incriminated - that's their own stupid fault for doing it in front of a camera. I mean if you don't want to get caught you shouldn't draw attention to yourself. If you mean simply them getting seen in a bad light because of the association...well that can the the coast of going out.

Or better yet the promoters there could actually get together an form something out of this. We made the rave culture near legit in my city because of stuff like that. The mayor has been quoted to say that there is no issue with rave culture in Pittsburgh, and the events are perfectly law abiding. Given that I've faced these situations many a time before I already have a head full of ideas on how to spin the movie in a positive nature and make the people doing it look like asses.
...I"m evil with PR tactics...that's how I get away with throwing shows that should pry be illegal. lol.

While I'm not personally acquainted with him, I can't picture him doing anything too messed up...I mean it's not like he's Keoki or anything.

I think that the less of a big deal is made of this the less attention it'll get. If the EDM scene freaks out, then more people will notice. No one's even heard of the film in the States...at least none I've talked to.

Plus have any of you ever seen the movie Party Monster?? That's based on a true story and wasn't the death of rave culture...it actually revived it a bit! And there was a murder/mutilation involved as well as a lot of drugs.

Yeah that was the first rave I found out about.
Been trying to contact them for over a month in both English and French, I think I'm going to start with the phone calls this week...I haven't gotten this far by being easy to ignore.
I have realized that I run my production company very differently from how things are done in Montreal. Even if I can't book a performer I always make sure to reply to their messages, in many a case I've picked up amazing people who played later events and have remained with my company ever since. I own my own production company and have been throwing events for a little over 2 years and now manage a team of 14 performers, have my own professional (high end) sound/DJ/VJ equipment, and al looking to buy my own venue. There's more info and a listing of clickable links on my profile. I've been involved in 36 events (that I can remember) in that time. I've been DJing for about a year now, I started out knowing nothing and in 6 months I was performing nationally at headliner level. Every event I have personally thrown has been hailed as some of the most cutting edge EDM entertainment in the country. My last event: BloodFeast was promoted nationally and drew patrons from LA all the way to Cleveland Ohio.
Even given my accomplishments and rapid advancements I have always made a point to treat other performers and promoters with respect. We're all supposed to be working together towards the same goal: A Killer Scene
....right??

Another vacation turned into work
LOL
If I didn't love performing so much I don't know what I'd do with myself

-Cy

PS- I really have to compliment your scene itself. While the promoters may be difficult, you ugys are really nice. I don't know if you use P.L.U.R. but you guys really do have the 'spirit' down to an art. This is actually the most helpful and supportive scene I've come across, and that's saying a lot :)

Well hi yourself :)
Thanks.
The only problem with casing events is that I'm not going to be there forever. I'm going back to the states after a little over 2 weeks...so this is kind of a limited time chance. As a promoter I'd jump on being able to have an international name for...well basically FREE for events. Especially when you consider my fire and metal grinding performances. But I'm not going to be there long enough to not only track down the parties, let alone said promoters.
Been trying to make contact with the club [ events...com ] impossible.

In all honesty the patrons of the scenes are wonderful, but I am getting the worst impression of the promoters...and I was looking forwards to this trip for a REALLY long time...

My style is actually 'Psychedelic Goth' (a style I kind of made up) so I fit into a variety - EBM, Industrial, Psy Trance, Hardstyle, Goth
Both the gothic and rave scenes have been loving it, have gotten HUGE responses from people local to Montreal...and they're actually trying to contact promoters as well so they can see me perform...

And as for booking the same acts over and over - they do that hear too...the companies that do that just never actually go anywhere but out of business after a couple of years.
