I'm definitely looking forward to playing for some heads.

I was once playing at a lounge where I had a weekly residency. Because it was a lounge, I often played reggae (mostly roots and lover's rock). In the middle of my set a girl approached the dj booth and said, "Could you play some good reggae?"

"Good reggae? I don't even know what that means." I replied.

She returned to the dancefloor, and I assumed that that would be the end of it. A few minutes later one of her friends came up to the dj booth and said, "Could you play some great reggae?"

At that particular venue I received an extremely wide range of requests. Such as:

Request: "Could you play some Candlebox?"
Response: "I don't know what a candlebox is."

Request: "Could you play something I know."
Response: "But you don't know anything."

Request: "Do you have any Beach Boys?"
Response: "No, but my dad is going to be djing next. I'll be sure to pass on your request."

It's a three day festival and there are three stages so there is a good chance that all 45000 people might not hear set, but I'm sure that there will nevertheless be more than say... the capacity of Blue Dog during Junglist Friday's heyday. The line-up up is relatively diverse including such names as, Tricky, Underworld (live), London Elektricity, and DJ Rap (ugh!).



On Saturday at Konkrete Jungle, some drunk 외국인 accused me of playing "too deep" and that I "shouldn't make the people think". I play for the heads; the masses are dumb.

I'm looking forward to it too.



I'm pushing dubstep here at the moment and I still haven't forgotten my jungle roots, but I've had to diversify quite a bit. Serato has definitely helped in that regard (showing up to the club with 9000 tunes is slightly different than showing up with 100 records) and as such, I've spun some sets wherein I throw down upwards of ten different genres. That notwithstanding, dubstep has sparked a little attention here, and as the only dj who spins it in the country well... it's time for me to step up. This upcoming Saturday I'll be playing dubstep at the Pentaport Music Festival, the largest outdoor music festival in Asia (last year's attendance was 45 000 people).

I am in fact in Korea at the moment, but I will be in Montreal on the 14th of August at Club Passeport.

In the spirit of the first day of spring ("out with the old and in with the new"), I thought that I might post this old tune of mine; enjoy.

I don't fully grasp what you mean when you suggest that "like all programs...bugs need to be worked out". Sure, all programs can be improved to some degree (who among us could not do with a little self-improvement?), but I've been playing on Serato for two years and have never once had a problem. When I initially switched to digital, I purchased Final Scratch and found that it was a garbage program with no end user support from either Stanton or Native Instruments (both companies refused to answer both my emails and telephone calls). After my Final Scratch transformer quite literally blew up, I purchased Serato and I haven't looked back since. I now receive regular updates, an abundance of end user support, and also access to exclusive pre-release tracks only available to Serato users; what more could you ask for?

Thanks. I'm posting it because my mastering guy joined a cult and so long story short, as a result, I no longer have the original sequence. I urge people to play it for crowds who enjoy the finer things in life; well programmed drums and flanged crashes.
