| Description: | Forward started in the summer of 2008 as platform to promote underground electronic music, filling the absence of a weekly rendez-vous for the alternative club scene. Originally thought out to be a hosting ground for drum’n’bass, jungle, breaks and dubstep, Forward grew and evolved into a night made to showcase a wide array of genres and scenes working with a variety of different crews and artists such as Loetech, Sixtoo, DZ, Datsik, Spor and Plastician, to name a few. Dubstep remains a central focus but Forward is also about bringing people of different musical backgrounds together to open their minds to different styles. By inviting over 75 different guest djs on the span of the last year, Forward gets people to enjoy and discover new artists. Forward is Rhys Taylor, a nightlife legend who has been playing alongside big names of the international electronic music scene in Montreal for almost 10 years now. Holding down "Your Radio is Broken" on CKUT for the past 5 years, throwing Mix Thursdays for almost 3 years, a residency at Blue Dog, Saphir and then Blizzarts with Broken Crew and bringing breaks to Stereo are a few of his accomplishments. David Rawalia aka Wally, a dj who has been mastering his craft since 2003 and more recently producing his own unique sounds. After promoting rave culture and sound and organizing a multitude of one-off all-nighters, he moved on to the dubstep scene taking full-part in the forward weekly as well as participating in other events such as soma and bassdrive. **************** THIS WEEK Two out of town guests, one night! **************** WOBLZ (OTT) [ www.bassdrop.ca ] Woblz aka Supaman started mixing hip-hop when he was 12 in his basement until one day he heard the magical sounds of electronic music. He fell in love instantly. At age 14 he landed a residency at a local youth club in the edm room playing hard trance and hard house for 4 years. He finally got his first gig opening at Celestial 2 playing hardstyle. He has been a staple in the Ottawa rave and afterhours scene playing for years along side, Omar Santana, Ophidian, Scott Brown, Manu le malin, Ill Gates and many others. He has also been in the promoting game for over 7 years. Throwing a very succesful hard dance night in Ottawa with Dj Joe Rowe, bringing in out of town artists and showcasing Ottawa's great local talent. Today he plays all over eastern Canada from Quebec city to Montreal and Toronto. Now Woblz has found a new sound: a sound so great, so BASSY that it makes make the masses shake, the sounds of the Dubstep. He is currently a resident for Sounds CRMNL & Capital Bass Culture in Ottawa. **************** Manygances live (France) [ www.myspace.com ] [ www.myspace.com ] "Happy Rock'nRoll Dubstepper" telle pourrait être l'étiquette que colleraient les adeptes de classification au dos de Manygances. Producteur de musique électronique depuis 10 ans, Manygances est à la tête du label Volca Records afin de promouvoir cette façon si particulière de faire groover les dancefloors. Liveur dans l'âme, il a su faire s'entremêler les genres, du classique de Beethov à la chanson française de Piaff, ses productions wooblelistiques martèlent un message clair : tubes old school + bass = moment d'bonheur !! Les accapellas singlants de Big red ou Busta Rhymes peuvent en témoigner, une fois posé sur les prods de cette agitateurs de fessiers, les vibrations vous collent à l'estomac, vos pieds trépignent et l'envie de crier ne se fait plus attendre...
