| Info: | After many years of hosting Earthdance on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, we sadly inform everyone that this year, the request to use parliament Hill has been DENIED. The reasons the committee for the use of parliament Hill gave included 'security reasons'. After appealing this decision and even having an MP write a letter on our behalf, the request was still denied. We also informed the committee that this is a peaceful event intended to PROMOTE peace through dance, however they stated they wanted to "preserve the beauty, dignity and national character of the image of the Hill". It is our belief that we are a very beautiful, peaceful and resourceful community and even though Parliament has denied our RIGHT to dance, we will continue to do this event at another location. We have found a new location this year in Ottawa and hope you can all attend to support this cause and the effort that has gone into it so far. It will be at Strathcona Park on Sept. 16th between 11am and 9pm. It is our hope you can join us during the day before heading out to all the other great festivals happening that weekend. This event will be fun for all and the dancing will be powerful. - DJs - Drumming - Body Painting - Circus Arts - Free Food - Yoga starting at 3pm |
