Aluas For the Open Stage, you can perform anything from music, spoken word, poetry, monologues, experimental, comedy, and more. Bring your guitar, or your creativity, and get up and have fun! IMPORTANT: Open Stage performers go on between 8:30 - 10PM, then the Showcase Feature. More Open Stage after the feature. Showcasing: Nathan Bishop – Singer/Songwriter “Iconoclastic”. “Soulful”. “Real”. “Vivid”. These are some of the words that have been used to describe 407 Records recording artist Nathan Bishop. Bishop is a force on the rise in the Canadian independent music scene. His musical journey has crisscrossed genre boundaries including Rock, Hip Hop, Celtic, Folk and Spoken Word poetry. The driving creative force behind one of Canada’s premiere Celtic band’s “Celtae”, Nathan is never content to rest on his creative laurels. If Celtae is the project to honour the traditions of his Cape Breton roots, then the Nathan Bishop solo project is his chance to synthesize his diverse musical influences into a sound that is simultaneously fresh and nostalgic and unmistakably Nathan. You will feel elements of Tom Petty, Neil Young, Jack Johnson, the Cranberries, Wyclef Jean, Everlast and Stan Rogers in this show. The songs and poems range from the sexy to the political with an infectious, laid back, head-bobbing groove. Singer, poet, multi-instrumentalist, MC, scholar, however you choose to refer to him you won’t forget the first time you saw a Nathan Bishop show.
