City:Canada, Quebec, Montreal
Time:Thu Jun 17, 2010 @ 10:00pm till Fri Jun 18, 2010 @ 3:00am
Description:Forward started in the summer of 2008 as platform to promote underground electronic music, filling the absence of a weekly rendez-vous for the alternative club scene. Originally thought out to be a hosting ground for drum’n’bass, jungle, breaks and dubstep, Forward grew and evolved into a night made to showcase a wide array of genres and scenes working with a variety of different crews and artists such as Loetech, Sixtoo, DZ, Datsik, Spor and Plastician, to name a few.

Dubstep remains a central focus but Forward is also about bringing people of different musical backgrounds together to open their minds to different styles. By inviting over 75 different guest djs on the span of the last year, Forward gets people to enjoy and discover new artists.

Forward is
Rhys Taylor, a nightlife legend who has been playing alongside big names of the international electronic music scene in Montreal for almost 10 years now. Holding down "Your Radio is Broken" on CKUT for the past 5 years, throwing Mix Thursdays for almost 3 years, a residency at Blue Dog, Saphir and then Blizzarts with Broken Crew and bringing breaks to Stereo are a few of his accomplishments.

David Rawalia aka Wally, a dj who has been mastering his craft since 2003 and more recently producing his own unique sounds. After promoting rave culture and sound and organizing a multitude of one-off all-nighters, he moved on to the dubstep scene taking full-part in the forward weekly as well as participating in other events such as soma and bassdrive.

Db Vaig (Jungle)

Hailing from the dirty south, southwest Ontario that is, db Vaig transplanted himself to the greener pastures of Montreal during the heyday of party phenomena in 98' after throwing party's in Toronto and wanting to immerse himself fulltime in the underground music scene. Once in Montreal db Vaig set up himself in a big loft in old Montreal with the mindset of throwing quality events in modest digs. Thus SlingshotCrew productions was born.
After 2 years of top notch events db Vaig took off to Europe to explore his ambitions in the Jungle sound. His goal was to find the dopest party's and transplant that vibe in North America! While traveling through Belgium with no more then a ruksak and record bag, he hooked up with Belgium's notorious DedKob Crew, and toured with them in Luik, Leuven Brussels, Ghent, Antwerp, Dendermonde, and Zichem. After a dodgy interaction with customs in Syria, db Vaig thought best to return home with a head full of fresh ideas and inspiration, and embarked upon some next level promotional tactics
2005, EzBake Mondays was born, the night that would transform Monday's into the new Saturday.
db Vaigs mission was to create a Saturday night vibe on Monday at the infamous Blue Dog bar. Combining dubstep, breaks, jungle, and drum & bass, this night became Montreal's only breaks weekly.
Having refined his sound, db Vaig is now one of Montreal's most versatile selectors taking his listeners on a journey ranging anywhere from melodic breaks, to mashed up mayhem, and passing through old skool jungle along the way.

Dialect (fidget/breaks/dubstep)

Straight out of the northern lands of Deux-Montagnes...
Initially influenced by hip hop acts such as KRS One, Native Tongues, Gangstarr, Jeru the Damaja., He began to pursue a Hip Hop scratch dj status in 97. With the newer generation of "Shit-Hop" emerging from numerous Hip Hop labels, he became frustrated, fed up, and discontinued purchasing Hip Hop vinyls altogether.

Still producing Hip Hop instrumentals, and working with local MC's, Dave Dialect was still unsatisfied with the current "scene" until his first visit to the afterhours. An easy convert to the Break Beat sound, Dialect blends the precision skills of turntablism with an ear for the underground electronic music community. Dialect can be heard spinnin' "Erectro, Real Skool Breaks, Dirty Disco, Drug-Step, Bassline Whore-House, Fist Funk" and more.
