FREEFLY presents: FULL CIRCLE WEDNESDAYS

Hip-Hop emerged as a free, rhythmic expression of urban communities in the early 80’s. It had the power to bring about peace and togetherness, through music, dance and art, to some of North America’s roughest communities.

These visionary street artists, which included DJs, MCs, B-Boys & Graffiti Artists, became the founding craftsmen of a movement that has transformed Hip-Hop into a lifestyle and thus, a way of life.

At it's fundamental roots, Hip-Hop embodied a combination of artistic elements, from; visual and written art expressions- in the form of graffiti, an intermixture of dance styles developed from breakdance, articulations of Rhythm and Blues through voice and song, to the expression of thought through poetry- otherwise known as Rap. Once a movement confined to the underground arena of Block Parties, sidewalk dance battles and subway train canvases, it has since flourished into a multi-billion dollar industry, as it's influence has grown into becoming a prominent part of our pop culture today.

Full Circle Wednesdays' aims to understand, recognize and exhibit the synergy of these fundamental elements, through a modernized and sophisticated perspective, by exposing Montreal's, and the rest of Canada's offering of urban talent to a mainstream audience, as well as to provide a network for such independent artists to expand their careers through unity, collaboration and inspiration.

‘Full Circle Wednesdays’ is our vessel, our stage that we offer to the talent of Canada to take their country and its burgeoning talent to the next level.
