| Info: | Doc's Comments I think this is the first party that Synergy ever threw completely by itself. And did it ever work out! We were pretty scared at first because we were head to head with Full Force's Halloween event Thriller, which had some serious names on the bill. Fortunately, the price was right, the theme was right, and we attracted over 500 people, all in costumes. The trick was to leave a big question mark around the question "If I don't wear a costume, will you still let me in?" Obviously we would never turn anyone away at the door just because they weren't in a costume, but the threat hovering over everyone's head made them all dress up. All in all, I was very impressed that ALL the djs and around 95% of the attendees were dressed up. What also made this event cool was the fact that it was the first major event at the Bourgetel, which afterwards became a staple of the Ottawa rave scene to this very day, a replacement for the Auberge des Rapides (little oldschool reference there!). The joys of a new venue combined with the Bourg's large and cheap beers made for one very positive and drunken Halloween celebration. I didn't end up going to Thriller, but I'm just going to snobbily assume we all had a better time at Boo! Actually, I hope everyone had a great time at both events, especially those that went to both! Then everyone wins. |
