Info:DEEKLINE :

Deekline, aka Nick Annand, has been collecting records since the age of 10. Initially inspired by early funk and electro, he moved onto hardcore and then the Jungle scene.

In 1999, he set up his own label, Rat Records, to release his debut 'Don't Smoke (Da Reefer).' It sold 20,000 copies on the underground then, licensed to East West, it went onto sell a further 150,000 hitting the No. 11 spot in the National Charts. This success bought constant DJ work and enabled Nick to PA his record for two years, making him an established name on the underground scene.

After his success with 'Don't Smoke', Deekline's sound and production style moved on to Breakbeat, a form of music that was still, at that time, very much in its infancy.

Working closely with London's Flex FM, (a radio station that he had been playing on for two years and the biggest pirate radio station throughout the garage scene [ www.flexfm.net ] Nick started his own garage influenced breakbeat night, Beatfreaks, which began to shape the sound of London's underground club scene. Since then he has also set up Thursday Night Throwdown and Breakbeat Connection, two hugely successful events, which are currently establishing themselves as some of the most exciting club nights in London (see press for details).

Other Djing work has been organised by Faze 2 which has taken Nick to all major festivals in the UK allowing him to DJ in most of Europe, as well as a 10-state tour of the US and an 8-city tour of Australia.

Nick's productions have been licensed to compilations ranging from Fabric Live to Pure Garage. His enormous official remix of Ol' Dirty Bastard's 'Got Your Money' and an anthemic collaboration with Freq Nasty, 'Every Posse & Crew', and now '4x4x4' have proved that he is a producer of significant merit.

In 2003 DJ Mag tipped him as one of the stars to look out for. Now well into 2004 he continues to press forward. His two labels Rat Records and Hardcore Beats are going from strength to strength, with new releases hitting the shops every 3 weeks, representing the cream of new talent from around the globe. The compilation 'Hardcore Beats Straight Off The Streets' mixed by Deekline and Ollywood was well received by both press and the record buying public.

Other projects have included collaborations with Rennie Pilgrem (Ripping Up Wax), MC Skibadee & Wizard (Man A Man) and remix work alongside writing partner Wizard for Jason Sparks (Secret Place) and for the godfather of electro, Arthur Baker. (2003) along with his partner Wizard, DEEKLINE has been an instrumental force in the international breaks and booty scene for years, now getting his dues overseas and the world over.

2004 saw Deekline & Wizard reclaim the title as one of breaks most innovative and exciting prospects with the release of Breaks Beats and Blonde's on Botchit and Scarper

2005 has seen things go from strength to strength with live appearances on Radio one and XFM, one of the best remix's of the year with Armand Van Heldens MY MY MY (Zane Lowes tune of the week on Radio One) a huge tour of Australia and North America and now a German number one single with the remix of The Prodigy's Out Of Space on Superstar Records.

Deekline and Wizard are now making huge waves in the US by pushing their ‘booty breaks’ inspired breakbeat sound and already look set to dominate Miami next year.
