JUNE 5TH â€“ CANADIANS TO â€˜FILL THE HILLâ€™ TO REPEAL MARIJUANA PROHIBITION

OTTAWA â€“ The Freedom March Organizing Committee has invited all Canadians to
Fill Parliament Hill on June 5th, 2004 at 1 p.m., to demand the repeal of
prohibition laws and the establishment of a regulatory framework to deal
with the use of marijuana in Canada. Canadians are tired of politicians
ducking the issue and want a sensible approach in place â€“ not more empty
promises.

The regulation of marijuana is the only way we can protect the health and
legal integrity of Canadians. It is time to redirect police and court
resources toward serious crime, and to end the current black market â€“ and
its harmful consequences.

Medical marijuana patients continue to suffer without safe access. Less
than 600 Health Canada exemptions have been granted, yet over 400,000
Canadians need marijuana for medicinal purposes.

Fill the Hill will advocate an alternative to the harmful policies of
prohibition through regulatory controls aimed at reducing
prohibition-related harms. The issues will be discussed from all
perspectives by a broad list of speakers from across the country. For more
